so i'm sitting here eating some leftover pizza and have decided it's time for a change. i've eaten nothing but canadian bacon and pineapple for the past ten years and am ready for something new. what are some good single toppings or combinations?

I have to admit I sometimes like green pepper on it too. It isn't really pizza, but it isn't nearly as bad as the Hawaiian thing. So I guess I am open minded about it. /images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Cockroaches a/k/a black olives.
Any fruit other than tomato if you consider tomato fruit instead of vegetable.

Pepperoni
Any vegetable other than green pepper or onion.

Recommended:

Cheese.
Sausage.

(if the pizza is good, really only cheese and sausage are allowed.)

Banned goofy pizza:

Teriyaki anything on pizza.
Sauerkraut.
Potato.

Crushed red pepper may be sprinkled.

A lot of places are starting to do a BBQ chicken pizza... the one I used to make was with Mozz (no red sauce), smoke gouda, onions, BBQ sauce, chicken. Great.

I also used to make a similar pizza by spreading a mixture of roasted garlic and BBQ sauce on the crust, then using three different kinds of cheese, garlic sausage, turkey sausage, and a sprinkle of diced onions/parm/fresh oregano.

(used to work in a pizza joint)

Another great pizza comes with sauce, mozz, spinach, figs, prosciutto, and gorgonzola. Hard to find that I imagine.

Kebab (the meat) and french fries. Very nice. Not the healthies perheaps to put on a pizza, but if you are gonna eat pizza you might as well go all the way /images/graemlins/smile.gif

Raised on Malnati's so I'm more likely to order from them. Maybe I will have to try ordering from Ginos. I do get pizza sent from chicago once in a while. It loses something in transit but is still a lot better than anything around here.

Pepperoni and onions

Sausage/Pepperoni/Onions/Mushrooms/Extra Cheese - some combo of those

Trentino Pizza: Mozzarella, Parmesan, Crumbled Feta, Baby Spinach, Pancetta (Italian Bacon), Red Onions, Herbs, and Lemon Infused Olive Oil (No Tomato Sauce).

Deep dish sausage or spinach pizzas

Whenever we used to get Pizza Hut at work (it was right next door), we were big fans of Chicken and Bacon (American Bacon that is!) pizza.

Other chain pizza places ave tried chicken pizzas and I've never been a fan and most local places don't have toppings like chicken most of the time since I don't live in California, but the stuff from the hut was always pretty tasty.

I'm a big fan of cheese but cheese stuffed crust pizza is gross, it just turns into a nasty cheese blob if you don't eat it all in under 15min.

Green olives & pepperoni is good for a change of pace.

Real slices of american bacon is really good, none of those [censored] bacon bits.

I used to make pies at an italian restaurant in high school and my favorite was 3 layers of pepperoni(aka Triple Pep). Greasy as hell but so damn good.

Chobohoya
03-14-2005, 03:15 AM
Yeah the guy who said no pepperoni is on crack.

I throw as much meat on there as possible: pepperoni, prosciutto, sausage, bacon, ham. And extra cheese and mushrooms.

PS for those of you who are picky, real prosciutto isn't ham as you know it. It's something from Parma that normally you would eat with melon, cause it's that damn good. You only put it on pizza to bring it to another level.

Sausage and Onion is my favorite.

When I worked in a pizza joint during HS I had favorite pizza with sauce, onions, sausage, banana pepper rings, olives, lots of different spices, and...NO cheese. It's amazing how much better toppings taste when they aren't smothered in cheese.
