I am considering moving to Salt Lake City and was wondering if their are any decent Poker rooms west of SLC just across the NV border? I've been to Mesquite on a Friday night and it had some poker rooms but they were small and didn't have much action. Is there a decent poker room closer to SLC than the Mirage?

There is only one in Wendover (bout 1 hour 40 minutes from Salt Lake). It is at the Rainbow casino. They just expanded it this summer and it is pretty decent on the weekends. Weeknight games are few and lousy from my limited experience, but the Friday and Saturday crowds are decent. They usually have 2-3 a 2-5 spread HE games with a kill at 50$ that takes it to 5-10 structured. They also spread a stud game usually, but I don't play that. On week-ends they have a regular 15-30 game that I don't play in, but a poster here named High Desert Poker Man does and can give you some info. I have also seen a 5-10 and 10-20 game go up, but that isn't as steady. The players seem to be mostly regulars (although not necessarily good) with the occaisional (real occaisional) fishy-fish.
Also have freeroll hold-em tourney on Friday and occaisional Omaha-8 games. Hope this helps, if you have any other questions, let me know.

Yep, poster above has it right. Rainbow is a good room 120 mi. west of SLC. It is all interstate. I come from the other way though. Most players are SLC people, but some of us from Idaho come down. I only play there on weekends, so I can't comment on the weekday goings-on. The 15 game goes on weekends. 5-10 w/ kill to 10-20 goes. Sometimes 10-20 or even 10-20 w/ 1/2 kill go in addition to the main game. Sometimes there is a 4-8 O8 game. Only stud is 1-5. I prefer it to the Colorado rooms FWIW. They treat the players very well. I have not beeen able to go for a little while though. Maybe this weekend. We'll see.

Thank you both. I've been playing most of my live poker in Colorado (get to Vegas about twice a year). Nice to know that this room is better on the weekends.
