I didn't know where to put this question: Why does the dealer pound on the table with his/her fist before dealing each street?

Bling.

B&M Cardrooms would be the most appropriate place. /images/graemlins/smile.gif

Anyhow, it is the dealer wishing the players good luck.

The dealer hits the table to signify that the betting round is over and that he or she is about to deal the next card.

Because you didn't tip him/her for the last hand /images/graemlins/grin.gif

to let you know that he is getting ready to deal and that nothing is in his hand ( i.e. cards for cheating)

Very hard to palm cards or checks when you pound;
same reason they clap and show hands when another
dealer pushes their shift...Nothing up my sleeve...

B&M btw...
