blinds are 50/100, and I have 1000 chips, 5 handed and im the shortstack UTG and I've folded every hand thus far. I finally get AK, and raise to 4xBB--First off, is this a bad raise? I mean this is almost half my stack. But nobody smart is gonna call if I raise all in unless they have JJ at worst. Should I limp as my hand is pretty useless unless I hit an A or K?
Also, calling down with ace high with a flop of 894 isn't always easy...
Anyway I'm basically a newbie just wondering if at 10xBB should I just go all into a pot and probably win 150$?

depending on how good you're itm % is, you should probably start to push every time you open a pot when you get to 10 bb. if you feel that your itm% is good enough than i would start at 8 bb.

with AK if you dont push at least pot commit yourself. 400 is the minimum bet here I think.

well, its not TERRIBLE, assuming you are going to bet the last 600 on any flop. there are a couple ways to play this hand and what you did is one of them.

OK, I'll play the idiot: Why? Let's say you get a caller after going 400 ... and the flop comes 7/8/9 rainbow. Why push if the other guy makes a big bet? You're probably beat. Save your 600 chips for a better hand.

That said, I do push preflop if I get this hand with 10x big blinds.
