Im having a home tourney this weekend. Pretty small game, only 8 players, Players start with 1000 chips and blinds begin at 10-20 and go up every 10 mins.
Im wondering what is the best payout structure for this kind of game. How much to first, 2nd, and even third. Its usually a $5 buy in, so players arent afraid to gamble with thier chips. Also, should i include rebuys? (we usually play 2-3 games in 5 hrs, how much more time does a re-buy add?) also details on rebuys would be useful, like how many are allowed per player, and when the rebuy period should end. Advice taken from experience woudl be greatly appreciated!

every 10 minutes? how fast does this thing need to be? i go every half hour, with similar number of players, and we hardly ever go over 2.5 hours.

The blinds dont make a huge diffrence since people are moving in alot(rather crazy bunch), so bumping it to 20 min seems reasonable. Any advice on rebuys and payouts? also, should money be distributed on a percentage basis, since rebuys mite ruin a set amount to each player.

i have a similiar game going, here is what we use (500 chip set) 150 white, 150 red, 100 green, 100 black.

the values we make up on our own, i know they are not the "regular" values, but it works.

15-White @ $5 each= $75
15-Red @ $10 each= $150
11-Green @ $25 each= $275
10-Black @ $50 each= $500

$1000 in chips each person

"But Cro, you don't have enough greens to cover 11 per person!" I bought some ghetto wal-mart chips to cover the extra 1 per person lol.

We use the blind structure given on www.homepokertourney.com (http://www.homepokertourney.com) and use poker timer www.pokertimer.com (http://www.pokertimer.com) to run our games.
