Woman In Wheelchair Left Outside Casino For 15 Hours (http://cbs2chicago.com/topstories/local_story_068154217.html)

GARY, Ind. (AP) Indiana State Police say a Chicago man left his 82-year-old mother sitting in a wheelchair for more than 15 hours at the entrance to a Gary casino while he gambled inside.

Casino workers say they first noticed the woman at about 9 p.m. Mar. 1, when her son requested a wheelchair for her.

She was still there the next morning. Over her objections, casino workers paged her son, who didn't respond.

The woman was taken to a hospital for treatment of a broken hip. She told hospital workers she was injured in a fall at her home a couple weeks earlier.

Authorities say they've issued an arrest warrant for the son, Andrew Hawkins Junior.

how in the world did 15 hours pass before someone noticed? some blame here should go to the casino.

There's a pretty good chance that this guy sues the casino, claiming they should have noticed his mother earlier and responded more quickly.

I KNOW it doesn't make sense and that this guy should have his balls taken from him in an extremely slow and painful way but I just envision this turning into a lawsuit and this A-hole getting a wad of cash in a settlement from the casino.

God I hope this doesn't happen but I got a bad feeling.

What I don't understand is why not just park her inside next to a slot machine, where she could get drunk for free even if not gambling.

Maybe they are running a scam to try and sue.

pitcher Andy Hawkins is 45 years old in 2005. this would mean that his mother gave birth to him at 37 which is probably a stretch.

if you can find one of his old Donruss baseball cards, they have players full legal names on the back (incl. middle names and Jr, III, IV etc.)

The entrance to the casino there is like a large tunnel with tons of people milling around...they also have an entrance to the parking garage near there..I see people all the time waiting for others for whatever reason. I do find it sad though that security didnt notice her sooner...
