I am the proud owner of a complete set of Egyptians, and had my first tourney yesterday, but I ran into a problem.

I want to use ALL of the chips (because I am proud of them) excluding the .25/$1. (those are reserved for the side game)

Dilema: How do I incorporate the $5-5k chips? In yesterdays tourney (12 of us) each got $3500 worth of chips, and I used an agressive blind schedule, but still the plaques were not viable.

My total chip breakdown is: $5-400, $25-350, $100-200, $500- 150, $1k-85, $5k-35.

Any suggestions please?

Thanks Craig

Well, this may seem obvious, but who not start with about 30,000 in chips each (no rebuys right?), and sort out a really aggressive blind schedule that gets you from 5/10 to 15,000 / 30,000 within the time remaining before the Earth is consumed by the exploding sun.

exactly. you used 42k in chips in your tournament, even though you have 175k in 5k chips alone. you bought 'em, use 'em!

Any kind of structure where you want to use a 5 dollar chip and a 5000 dollar chip starting out, the blind schedule would be so crazy that after the first round you would be removing the 5 dollar chips and by the third round you would be removing the 25 dollar chips.

This is based on 12 people. I would start everyone out with 3600 in chips.

What each player will get
20 - 5's
20 - 25's
10 - 100's
2 - 500's
1 - 1000's

What you will need for 12 people
240 - 5's
240 - 25's
120 - 100's
24 - 500's
12 - 1000's

Blind Schedule (from pokerstars) I raise mine every 25 minutes
10 - 20
15 - 30
25 - 50
50 - 100
75 - 150
100 - 200
200 - 400
300 - 600
400 - 800
600 - 1200
1000 - 2000
1500 - 3000
2000 - 4000
3000 - 6000
4000 - 8000
6000 - 12000
10000 - 20000
15000 - 30000
20000 - 40000

I like this structure since it allows for cheap play the first couple rounds then starts to get aggressive. I run this in my home game every other week with 9 people and the games usually last about 4 to 5 hours. I start people with 2600 in chips and color up when needed.

If you want to get all the chips out I would get more people. Still start with 3600, and of course you will need to adjust your chips that you give everyone but it is possible.

Well, thanks a bunch guys, guess it is so simple--got em use em. And it really does serve a purpose to have alot of chips out- the players that really don't know what they are doing don't get thrashed till the later rounds. It lets them play longer, and the good players get a look at how the others play (or bluff!)

Thanks again, Craig
