Im a little curious about something. When is position at its highest importance? It seems like the sooner you can identify a -EV situation, the better. That would mean it is more important preflop. On the other hand, the ability to steal pots, pump draws, etc postflop wins a lot of bets. Im not really sure if there is even an argument here, but Im curious to see what people think.

Position is waayy more important postflop just like overall post flop skillz are waaaayyy more important than preflop skillz.

you don't get people to fold hands pre-flop, you get them to fold on the flop and turn because they're afraid of calling multiple bets when behind, and getting no more money when ahead.

i would say that absolute position is more important preflop and relative position is more important postflop...

The more experience I get playing various forms of poker, the more I realize that the easiest street to play in all of poker is preflop in Hold'em.

And on the question, I agree with Thirddan. Absolute position preflop, relative position postflop.

I have to say it's different in NL than L, in NL pre-flop position is as important as the post-flop.

Why do you think so? in L hold'em, the most risk that you take is being re-raised or capped!! in NL, you can be in big trouble if you make a healthy bet and someone in position goes on top or push, you either have to fold and loose your bet or take a risk of loosing all you chips, this is my opinion anyways.

no.

to elaborate, deep stack no limit, bets post flop = real big (on average) pre-flop real small (on average). Post flop is way more important in both and way more important in NL then limit.

difference in limit in having position is a bet, in NL it's a stack.

(that's not a cliche, i thought of it myself, well before brunson et. all)
