Lmk if I left out any other huge names that deserve mentioning.
If you have trouble answering this question, because you like an actor better than everyone else, but he doesn't compare to Al Pacino for example, then base your answer on who you would be most inclined to go to the movie theater for their next movie without knowing the plot or hype.

I picked Pacino, but easily could have voted for a number of actors.

Anthony Hopkins, followed by Richard Harris.

Robert Deniro is the obvious answer. And leonardo decaprio should be taken off the list.

So this is an "of all time" poll, and everyone on the list alive and working and popular.
I would think you would at least throw one bone to the likes of Cary Grant, Jimmy Stewart, Peter Sellers, Buster Keaton, Toshiro Mifune, Jean-Pierre Leaud, Spencer Tracy, Gene Hackman, George C. Scott, Errol Flynn, Charlie Chaplin, Groucho Marx, and Clark Gable.
Oh, and you forgot Robert Downey Jr. and Philip Seymour Hoffman.

humphry bogart, gene kelley, fred astair
I wouldn't classify any of these as "great" actors, but the op said that it was an actor whose next movie you would definately see. whenever I find one by any of these three I make sure to watch it.

shouldn't Kevin Costner be on this list?

If I'm channel surfing, I will usually stop on an Eastwood movie at least for a few minutes, with the exception of the "Which Way" ones, and the later, crappy, Dirty Harry ones. Oh, and Pink Cadillac...man, he was in a slump there for a while.
DeNiro or Norton from that list, but my favorite actors are Ben Kingsley, Humphrey Bogart, and John Goodman. The first two, at least, should be on your list.
How could you leave out Marlon Brando?!

tom cruise is my favorite actor, but he obviously is not nearly as talented as deniro or pacino, or most of the other actors on that list. i didnt include people like cgrant because this isnt the goat poll, its the fking poll about who you enjoy seeing on the big screen.

He's more talented than half the people listed, anyway. I voted for "other," but considered Cruise.
If you haven't seen "Magnolia," "Vanilla Sky," or "The Last Samurai," you haven't really seen him stretch his range.
I also think he's pretty good in "Rain Man," "Eyes Wide Shut," "Jerry Maguire," and "Minority Report."
And I'm looking forward to this summer's "War of the Worlds."

vanilla sky is one of my favorite movies. ive heard people either say that the movie is horrendous or that its genius. there seems to be no middle ground. i think you need to have above average intelligence to appreciate it jake.

I hate to admit it, but if Mel Gibson is in a movie, chances are I'll see it.
The man has put out some effing great movies.
Same as Tom Hanks, Denzel, Matt Damon, Morgan Freeman, etc.
They are popular because they are really good.
I haven't seen a great De Niro or Pacino movie in a while. Heat is probably the last one, and that came out in 95.
Brando=HUGELY OVERRATED.
