Depends on what part of the world you're in.

I don't smoke tobacco so adding this to an otherwise perfectly fine joint seriously ruins the taste for me.

Damn europeans like it for some reason tho.. yuk.

If you are trying to figure out what people use the word spliff for then you need to look at urban dictionary and use each def and combination of def in the pole.

I've always heard spliff = massively huge joint or self rolled cigarette.

I have heard people use "spliff" to describe huge joints and joints with tobacco in them. I couldn't think of another single-word term for the latter.
