I play 2/4 at party and it seems like these games always fall more into the "tight" category according to SSH with 3-5 players on the flop. Are these "loose" games actually common in small stakes games on the internet or are they mostly live games and microlimit internet games?

Live and microlimit. Put yourself in the shoes of a fish. You're either going to plunk down $200 every month or so in a casino, or you're going to play microlimit online, and make your deposit last a while. You're not going to drop $100 every day playing 2/4 online. Even the 1/2 games can be tight online.

You might be able to find a loose game sometimes at some of the smaller sites but it's almost impossible at any of the major online poker rooms.

I cerainly agree with these posts about the 'loose' hand selection and how difficult it is to find these types of games. I believe Ed has said that it's more typical of some Southern California card rooms. So, trash the loose hands and follow the 'tight' hands...and read the book because there is still plenty of good info there that are applicable to low limit games.

Adjust your game as it progresses. If the table becomes very loose and you are on the button or in late position, you can consider greater options, thats the most important lesson to be learned.

If you play in Vegas you will find the loose starting hand guides are often applicable up to 10/20 and beyond. I sat in a 15/30 game where I applied very loose starting hand requirements... and succedded because they players were horrible post flop.

It's possible at Pacific Poker.

I've played micro-limit from .02/.04 up to .50/1. According to Poker Tracker, none of these levels had "loose games" according to the definition of SSH.

You will hardly ever encounter a game that loose on the internet. Focus mainly on the post flop concepts of this book & you will be fine.

Pacific is a big site, no?

I can't believe everyone seems to think that Party Poker is the loosest site online.. if you want REALLY loose games, check out Pacific and some sportsbook related sites. (You can't use Poker Tracker though, and usually not take notes either. /images/graemlins/frown.gif)

No, Pacific is probably considered a 'medium' sized site.

Can you realy consider any site that only allows you to play one table at at time big?

Then you haven't been playing on the right sites. /images/graemlins/smile.gif
There are more than a few sites out there featuring games with 8 players seeing the flop more often than not.

But these posts are mostly correct. Online games are generally tougher and fall into the "tight" category.

I'm pretty sure when SSH was written, a lot of online sites at 2/4 limit had tables like that. As time progressed, many people started multitabling =P.

The only place I've found consistantly loose games is at my local card room. Its not uncommon to play 3/6 with an average of 6 people to the flop for the entire time you play.

You want loose? Hit up SportingBet. My buddy is signed up there, and asked me to show him how the poker section works as he'd like to try it out. So we ran it and I logged in and started playing. $1/$2 full limit table, it said 89% of people seeing the flop. I figured it was just an exagerrated number........nope! First hand I post the BB, UTG calls, UTG+1 raises....then everyone calls but the CO. Almost every time, there was 8 people to the flop, 6 to the turn, and 4 to the river.

They only do one-table, but it's entertaining as hell, watching your set of Kings go down to a T3o rivered straight. I recommend checking it out, even for the fun factor. Plus if you're betting heads up, there's no cap. Nothing like having the nut flush and having someone 6-bet it with you with his middle pair, top kicker /images/graemlins/grin.gif
