Anyone hate this push? Note that this was a satellite; so only first mattered. Also relevant was that the blinds were just about to be bumped up to 100/200 and the table was very tight.

My alternative was call and play for set value; but given how tight the table was playing and where the blinds were, I figured I would need to gamble soon if I didnt hit the set. And I figured that i had fold equity, plus a likely coin flip if called. Seemed like a good spot.

bump. routine or too horrible for words?

I'd say pretty routine.

You'd think 99+ would raise in quite often, so it doesn't look like your dominated by anyone in the hand so far. You have some folding equity, although I think it's less given that this is a satellite and people are more apt to gamble. But with your short chip stack you should be welcoming a call from 2 overs for a chance to double up and get back into this thing.

With only 8BB, I'd say its time to step up the agression. 88 preflop is only a dog to a higher pocket pair and you've still got a big enough stack that a big raise or an all-in will be respected (unlike that guy with 300 chips). I'd just write this one off as a bad beat.

No 2 ways about it...this is auto push given all the circumstances.

whynot?

A10 is indeed a pretty bad call, unless they think you will be pushing with A9 or under here. It seems A10 is at best a coinflip (against a mid pp) or a slight favorite (against something like KQ/KJs) but is a huge dog to AJ+.
