In HPFAP, I'm confused when slansky says to "play" a hand. E.g "It is some times correct to play 7 /images/graemlins/spade.gif,6 /images/graemlins/spade.gif from an early position". Does he mean go ahead and raise or simply call?

Well, he states that you should call with this is early position occasionally to throw off your opponents. Then he mentions it can be correct to raise with a hand like that if your early position pre-flop raises are getting too much respect. It depends on the particular circumstances.
