If I have a $20 bankroll, what limit should I play and when should I move up?

Start with Stars .02/.04

Move to .05/.10 at 30$

Then to .25/.50 at 125-150$

You should play 2 cent/4 cent at Stars with only a $20 bankroll.

You should move up when you feel confident about your play and have the bankroll for the next limit.

The standard bankroll is 300 big bets, but you can take occasional shots at higher limits with a less than adequate bankroll.

you can typically move up faster at the baby limits because

a. the players are far and away the worst you'll find
b. the pots aren't raked .. you pay a ton of money in rake at .5/1, 1/2, 2/4 that requires you to be a fair amount better than the average to compensate and still end up +, that isn't a concern when all the pot in .05/.1 goes to you when you win

Wow. Tough one.

At stakes .01/.02 blinds, (.04 big bet) $20 represents 500 BB. So you can play there til you're comfortable moving up.

at stakes .02/.05 (.1 big bet), you've got about 200 BB, so you're slightly under rolled, but you can play at that limit too.

Move up whenever your regularjob lets you put 300 BB into a poker site at .5/1 or .25/5.

Edit: their answers are better.

yeah 300x Big BET is the general rule, but a question guys, does this apply to IRL, u cant multitable and the games seem to be eaiser, so i think the swings are a little less, unless ur always against live maniacs, which is not that uncommon i guess, please correct me if im wrong

The 300 BB bankroll was originally derived from live games. Remember internet poker is a relatively new phenomenom.

If his $20 isn't on Stars already he can't do that, Stars has a $50 min deposit. I'd say play on Absolute until you have $50 for Stars.
