What about the flop slow play?

Edit: I think I should've raised the flop. I need to protect against gutshots. I have a hard time remembering the fact there could be big draws out when the board isn't 2 suited or connected much. If I don't raise I might give someone with something mediocre a big draw. Plus villain is LAG so it might get capped all the way, making up for knocking out others.

Actually, I think this is fine. I'm not too worried about giving away 1 cheapie on the flop with this board.

I call this flop just because a good % of the time the pre-flop raiser will raise it for Hero, happily trapped in between.

Calling on the flop is okay if you are intending to 3-bet a raise from anyone (namely MP3).

I wouldn't be too concerned about gutshots on the flop. Probably no one has one, and even if someone does, you have a pretty good redraw against anyone who catches a straight on the turn.

It is unfortunate that MP3 apparently had a pocket pair or KQ or some other hand instead of a big ace, but the action you got from UTG+1 did compensate.

Anyway, when you call the LAG's flop bet, that does set up a situation where when you put in your first raise later in the hand, that raise will announce that you have a monster. Still, with the PFR left to act behind me, I'd be tempted to just call, hoping to get in a call/3-bet.

I think I prefer raising up front though, in the hopes that MP3 has something like AK and will 3-bet. Raising immediately would better disguise your hand than waiting, I think -- especially since you'd be raising a LAG.

yeah in the midst of writing a scathing reply, i noticed that the pf aggressor was not the flop bettor. i don't mind the flop call.

was this last night? I lost with 9sfull to quad 6s last night, among others.

come to think of it, I raised PF with the 99
edit: I think it was quad 7s

This morning. Villain had A9o. /images/graemlins/shocked.gif

I asked him after the hand if he had a set also, he said yes but his didn't hit like mine.
