Is this ante too high?

I recently saw and played in a 2-10 spread limit stud HILO game (eight
or better). The ante in this game was 1 dollar w/a 2 dollar bring in and 2-10
betting on all streets.

I thought with this ante it would be hard to beat the game for a reasonable
as I suspected one would be anteing away, and often chopping out when
playing a hand.

What do you think?

Me Thinks that I played with you at E.Chicago..Me also thinks the ante IS too high..BUT the game [with a $5rake]was beatable with the 2-3medocure players in the game..Nobody said IT was gonna be easy....

The $1 ante isn't going to make the game unbeatable. In fact, now ante structure would make a game unbeatable unless the ante was so ridiculously high that it would be correct for every player to go to the river with every hand.

a high ante only hurts bad players and players that win by playing tight. but it kills everyone if the rake is too high as then the rake gets all the easy money.
