I don't think I should've folded. I'd only been playing a few hands with the button. He 3 bet pocket 10s preflop just recently, and was pretty aggressive and liked to think of himself as being "tricky". I didn't even think about the backdoor straight draw. Is it worth taking one off on the flop even if I don't have a backdoor straight draw, just the 2 overcards?

Closing the action and getting 17.5 to 1 you definitely don't want to fold here. If you give yourself 3 outs for the overcards and 1.5 for the backdoor straight you need only around 9.5 to 1 to call and see what happens on the turn.

If you have just the overcards you need around 14.5 to 1 so it would still be a call.

Since you're closing out the action here, and considering the size of the pot, I think you should have called here. I'm only giving you three outs as your BDFD is bascially two gapped.
