View Full Version : AJo in SB/BB. Complete with any 2 suited in SB?

I'm reading SSHE as I'm 2-tabling Party's .5/1 and it says not to raise with AJo in the blinds? Why is this?

Also in tight games, it says to complete with any 2 suited. Personally I do not see the odds you are getting if you have 82s and there is only 1 limper in.

Your position sucks with the AJo. AJs I think is a fine raise. For your 2-suited question, I don't complete junk suited at least with 2 limpers, maybe more.

Yet my position is so much better when I raise utg or utg+1 with AJo?

That makes 0 sense

There's a wide difference between being the SB and being UTG+1. And I think there are opportunities to raise AJo in the BB (for example with one or two weak limpers in).

Depends on your competition with AJo in the blinds. I like to raise against 2 weak opponents, or usually any 1 limper (unless he's really really tight). The thing is, you do have slightly better position in UTG or UTG+1. There will almost always (at the micros) be somebody acting before you, and that's better than opening into 2+ opponents.

If your postflop play is reasonably good, you can raise a single limper, or maybe 2 weakies IMO.

EDIT: Also open-raising from UTG or UTG+1 limits the field, whereas raising from the blinds only builds the pot, doesn't drop anybody out. AJ is not great multiway.

The biggest reason why you raise AJo UTG but not in the blinds is b/c part of the reason you raise it UTG is to try to fold people behind you. When you are in the blinds, this isn't possible.

Bet the turn.

I don't complete 82s without at least 3 limpers to me, usually. I don't think it gains enough profitability.

And I don't raise AJo in the blinds because your position sucks and I like to keep the pot smaller for the flop. I raise AQo there here for equity.

Pre-flop, flop and turn are fine. Not sure how about the river. Pretty sure you're beat, hate folding for one more bet in a pot this size but I hate overcalling here as well.
