On ESPN right now. Both going to the NCAAs for sure. Great preview for those who pick brackets, and it should be a great game to boot. They split the regular season series 1-1.

meh.

Not as good as Illinois/Ohio St... /images/graemlins/grin.gif

Maybe not as good as the last 2:00, but it's a damn sight better than the rest of the IL-OSU game, 90% of which was a boring blowout.

This is a much better game for St. Mary's than last nights. Should come down to the wire.

I know SU got pwned by UConn, Clark, but I still foresee a #1 Illinois/#4 or #5 SU matchup in the Midwest, and I still predict an SU win. /images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Other than Nova, hasn't SU gotten owned by every ranked team they've faced? Something like 1-6 IIRC, but I could be mistaken.

Yes true. But all of Su's losses came at the hands of ranked teams. Illinois was beaten by an awful Ohio State team.

I'm quite happy knowing that if we play as bad as possible, our coach has a brain fart, and we are on the road, it still takes a huge comback and a last second 3pt by the opposition for the first lead or tie of the entire game to beat us. /images/graemlins/grin.gif

Pretty interesting stat for Illinios. In all 30 of our games this year, we have had a lead of 12 ponts or more at some point. /images/graemlins/cool.gif

We'll be just fine. /images/graemlins/grin.gif

I think that Uconn, SU, UNC, and Wake Forest could all beat the Illini.

I'd like to think we've proven conclusively that Wake isn't a problem for Illinois.

That was at home, no?

What about Uconn and UNC? UNC is quite good this year.

It was at home, but Wake was playing good at the time and still couldn't stop us from pulling our starters when we ran it up to 81-49. They simply don't play enough defense to give us a serious problem.

I would never underestimate a Calhoun team - I'd just as soon not play them. Carolina isn't an issue until the final game since we'll be on opposite sides of the bracket, so I won't even bother worrying about them yet, but obviously they'd have a great chance.

Don't underestimate SU either brooo. Sure they aren't the team of two years ago, but once they get going, they are a fantastic team. If GMac and Warrick are both on, along with Pace and Edelin, watch out!

And SU has a stellar defense. 3-2z.
