I have trouble with these situations. I'm unsure as whether to bet or check-raise. I realize this is player dependant, but unfortunately the only reads I had here were that UTG seemed like a decent player (although I don't know enough about him to confirm this) and UTG+1 is a really bad loose passive calling station. Anyways, I'm just curious about the best way to typically play a situation like this when you don't have much in the way of reads.

ok, looks like betting is best, which is what I did. I was hoping to get a late position raise and build a pot which unfortunately didn't happen. the reason I thought check raising might be good is because, the typical loose passive player is more likely to lead out with the first bet than to raise someone else's bet (i think). thus, i thought check raising would be more likely to get multiple bets in on this flop. anyways, this is how it played out:
