View Full Version : Wash Cloths

So I was at work yesterday, and a coworker asks me if I use a wash cloth when I am in the shower, I say no, and then proceed to ask others if they use a wash cloth. I ask around and everyone either uses a wash cloth, or some sort of abrasive material.

Am I in the minority here not using a wash cloth, and just using a bar of soap?

This is apparently a racial thing. White people don't, black folks do.

Funny you should mention that since the guy who asked me happens to be black. But I proceeded to ask a bunch of whiteys who all either used a wash cloth or one of those poofy things.

A loofah is actually a sponge. It's the cylyndrical thing with 4 "holes" in the middle. It looks like this:

They are not pink.

I do not understand why some women insist on calling those other things (I know exactly what you're talking about) loofahs.

I use a white version of one of those things that you call a loofah. I have no idea what they're called, so I can't get an image of one, but they're certainly not loofahs.

I use the bar. Screw all that other crap. I think something sitting in the shower is more gross. Its got to fester bacteria.

My girl thinks I am crazy, I even use the bar to wash my hair/head.

WTF? I have short hair and will be cutting it all off in a weak any way.

I was thinking about that, but worried that people would think I mean a blue SOS scouring pad. And thats way less hardcore than steel wool wood ever be. I suppose wet/dry sandpaper would be a close second for most hardcore, after cheese grater of course.

so does a kitchen sponage but I have heard it is the most filthy thing in your home.

The Dude
03-07-2005, 05:42 PM
Kitchen sponges don't get completely rinsed through every time they are used, and food craps collects in the holes and grows bacteria. That doesn't happen with a loofa.

Freakin
03-07-2005, 06:28 PM
You don't think your skin ever collects in there? It's not like it needs anything in there to collect bacteria. It's wet, isn't it? The bacteria in water will continue growing and funk the loofa up. Same reason why leaving a wet towel on your floor makes it smell. While it would be great if your loofa and towels got cleaner and cleaner every day, it's far from reality.

You can sterilize kitchen sponges by putting them in the microwave for 20-30 seconds.
