Hand #1, I probably raise to about 1500 pre-flop and then push the flop after he checks to me.

Hand #2, I think you have to push here and expect a race. If the stacks were closer to even, I may say fold.

1st Hand: I like your play here. Your opponents check indicates to me that he either has i) a very strong hand and he is trying to trap you or ii) nothing. If he's got a strong hand for you to push would be a disaster. If he's got a weak hand he will probably fold regardless whether you push or bet 800. I think the chance that he has nothing yet is confident enough that you have nothing to bluff is relatively small.

Hand 2: No way I push here. You have no fold equity and at best you have a race and there's a decent probability that you are dominated. Your best chance of winning this hand, IMO, is to call the raise and push the flop, hoping he didn't get hit.
