i'm an idiot too because i'm staying with these losers for some reason. never again. how didn't i get my own place? this is what i get for trying to be nice.

first of all, bruiser stinks. i mean his odor is pungent. he is disgusting. he hasn't brushed his teeth in god knows how long. i came straight out and asked him, when was the last time you brushed your teeth, and he would not answer me but just kept laughing. he also has massive BO and his clothes have not been washed in some time. he has a ton of dirty stinking clothes and the odor is actually sickening. i made it clear that i will not be sleeping in the same room as those clothes, so either he will get them cleaned today, or i will throw them out the window, and i'm not joking.

ok, now here's why eugene is stupid. we get in the room and everyone wants to use their electronic devices. i am smart, so of course i brought a transformer to step down the european voltage. they are idiots, so they did not. they went down to the front desk and got some adapters, but not transformers. just little pieces of plastic that let you plug into the wall and plug your american device in. anyway, as soon as i saw these, i gave a quick 5 minute physics lesson on why it would be extremely bad to plug their devices into these things without the use of a transformer. i explained the whole situation pretty well.

so five minutes later, i hear a couple of snap crackle pops, and smell ozone. eugene blew up his ipod speaker thingy trying to plug it in. awesome. of course they both start laughing like idiots even though they blew a fuse and the power is out, and eugene's device will likely never function again, but still they just sit here giggling like retarded schoolgirls.

i hate people.

I just meant to say that poker is a job, and relationship/girlfriend/off-time should not be poker-related, and may as well not smell like a damned locker room or someone's dirty ass.

If you happen to have already acquired a woman who happens to play poker, and who happens to carry electronic devices everywhere she goes (cell chargers do not count), then so be it.

I guess the "attractive" part is always a plus.

I thought the whole idea of the adaptor is it did everything for you.

I have two american devices plugged in via adaptors, I have taken stuff abroad to mainland Eurpoe and the States and always just used adaptors. Never had any problems at all. (my Monitor has been plugged in for the last 6 months constantly.)

What are these transformers and if we need them why are they not sold/integrated to the adaptors?

They are voltage transformers. We use 110 volts in the States and you use 220/240 in Europe, so if you plug an US purchased devices into a European outlet using something that just changes the shape of the plug, it will fry. Some electronic devices, such as laptop computers, have voltage transformers built in and others do not.

You are probably talking about a dual-voltage adaptor, which has everything built in to it. It probably says something like 110/220V on it.

I assume what Bruiser and eugene were using were just little plug adaptors that allow you to fit different sized plugs into the socket. You use those when you have a dual voltage device (like many electric shavers, for example) but the shape of your plug doesn't fit into the wall socket.

It's just a standard. I believe that the european power system is on 50 cycles, while we are at 60. I think asia runs on a different voltage as well, I could be wrong though.

Europe also runs on a different standard for thier cell phones, so most american phones are useless overseas.

Many years ago I travel about in Europe. I was young then and less wise than now, but I was not as stupid as all three of these morons.

1. I had the proper combo transformer/adapter.

2. I could wash my clothes in a sink and dry them overnight very easily and have fresh clothes ready to go early each morning.

3. I could adapt to new situations and learn from them and enjoy the inherent challenges.

4. I did not go to Europe and then hang about in front of a computer, or spend my time being a crybaby about problems, or sit about and watch the paint peel off in my room. I was out and about, doing, going, eating, drinking, seeing, walking, hiking, looking here, zipping there, and meeting people, and having the time of my life.

My collegue was just in Vienna last week and he recommends the local strip club, apparently has a lot of very attractive Ukrainian ladies, just watch out for the dodgy looking types before getting near to getting out of line with them.

Also he said there was a lot of snow and the taxi drivers still go fast but handbrake tuen on the snow round every bend scariest ride ever he said.

of course the clothes were washed that day. the room still kinda smells though. i'm staying by myself on all future trips.
