Hi all

Want make a 2 week vegas-trip. Only a friend and me, our plan was the Luxor, but now we think perhaps the Aladdin is the better choice ( more central).

Any advice ?

Wolfgang

Aladdin. Better hotel, better poker room, and two great 2+2'ers work there.

Not enough information!
Two weeks is a long time. What is the purpose of the trip? Two weeks of poker? High Stakes or low limit? Do you just want a place to crash for a few hours when you sleep or luxury? Lot so other variables as well.

Between the two, I would vote Aladdin as well. Better poker roomand better location (although I do not know of I would exactly consider it "central"). There is a GREAT Buffet in the Aladdin as well!!!

Have Fun!!

guess we will spend the most nights on the pokertables, in germany we cant play real /images/graemlins/smile.gif. Over the days a bit sightseeing, vacation, pool. We dont need the total "Luxus" but more than a bed to sleep.

Thx Wolfgang

If the pool is important you might want to consider the Tropicana. It has a really good pool, the rooms are decent and if you want to be on the south end of the strip it's location is good. It is right on the same corner that has the MGM, New York New York and The Excalibur. The Aladdin is just past the MGM and there are good low limit poker rooms on the south end of the strip at Excalibur, Luxor Mandaly Bay, Monte Carlo, Aladdin and soon the MGM. The mid strip stuff is not really all that far away and not a bad walk, unless you go when it is hot in the middle of the day. But even then you can hop the monorail and get pretty much anywhere on the strip with that.

Heck if you are going to be there for two weeks you might want to think about moving around and trying a couple of different hotels. Stay in the "Nicer" more expensive ones during the week when the rates are lower and then at the lower cost ones on the weekend. Something to think about at least! There are a lot of people who do that during an extended trip to Vegas.

Late tonight Hero (girlfriend) and I are going to Las Vegas and staying at the Aladdin (mostly because it was relatively cheap (<$100 per night) and centrally located). For me it's the first time in Las Vegas since before the Bellagio was built! This isn't a poker trip (although we may hit the Bellagio poker room Wednesday afternoon).

Anyway, any hints for good, sexy cocktail lounges and/or lounge shows, other fun places to drink, and decent light food (buffet meals ruin my libido /images/graemlins/smile.gif ). We are hoping for ideas in the Aladdin or within walking distance.

PS We had to delay our start 12 hours and were originally going to reschedule for next week. Next week is super expensive and nearly sold out. Is there some sort of big convention in town next week?

The NASCAR race which leads in to March Madness is this week...NASCAR is a huge event in Vegas.

You can't get much closer than the Fashionistas at Krave, next to the Aladdin. If you like kink, and dig live performances, you'll like the show.

It is a dance show, but unlike the cabaret types, it tells a full story. Some of the scenes are hot, others kinda silly, and I doubt people will agree on which are which. But the show tries some different things, the stage setting is innovative, the costumes are outrageous, and the dancers are talented. No silicone here, these are dancer builds all the way.

Official site (http://www.fashionistastheshow.com/home.html) may not be suitable for work, but Mike Weatherford's review for the LV Review-Journal (http://www.reviewjournal.com/lvrj_home/2004/Oct-15-Fri-2004/weekly/24981385.html) is.

well rick it'd be sold out because of March Madness, a convention, Spring Break, the WSOP Circuit. Everyone flies in to bet on the games etc. Everyone KNOWS IF U WANNA COME to Vegas anytime in march past the 2nd week u better book early.

I forgot about March Madness. The last several years I've had to eliminate a lot to make time for other things - among them watching sports on TV. I don't think I've watched a college hoops game in at least six years.

College kids go to Las Vegas on Spring break? When I was young (I'm now old enough to tell "When I was young BS stories") we didn't have enough money to even think of Las Vegas.

Believe me, "Everyone KNOWS" doesn't apply to me. Example: When Eminem (sp?) was up for a Grammy a few years back I just assumed he was black because he did rap /images/graemlins/confused.gif

Thanks for the information, I'll show the link to Hero. Mostly though, we are looking for sexy bars and lounges to be sexy, since, despite our age, we sort of are /images/graemlins/smile.gif

That said, such a bar/lounge whatever shouldn't be too hard to find in Las Vegas /images/graemlins/grin.gif

The show is in Krave, a club. Tickets also get you free admission to the club that night. From what I saw ont he way out, the talent was good.

Luxor poker room sucks, at least for NL. The buy-in is $50. The blinds are 1-1-2. The dealers make mistakes every other hand and let players take too much time.

I only played there on the morning before the plane left and wished I hadn't.

For NL cash games, try Bally's. $1/2 $200 max. Room and casino are nice.

I'll second the notion that the Luxor room sucks huge donkey ass balls. I took my not-so-poker-playing friends there so they could try out the smaller games and I thought the $50 NL game might be fun for us to try. I got into the NL game and left it in short order because it was all a bunch of WPT wannabe idiots staring into each other's souls and we got all of about 7 hands per hour. It aggravated me so much just sitting at the table that I had to leave. That said, the play was horrendous, so I suppose you could probably make a little money there - however much a $50 capped buy-in game can make you. Their biggest game was one table of 4/8 and the rest was 1/2 and 2/4. The room was craptastic and the management sucked. The whole thing was bush league. Don't bother.

As far as I'm concerned, the Mirage is easily the 2nd best room in town right now (pre-Wynn and MGM) and the Bellagio is so far ahead in first place that from now on, there's gotta be a good reason for me to go anywhere but the Bellagio and the Mirage for a quick change-up.

just a question, when do you plan to make that trip to las vegas? it's because i'm planning a trip, too. but i'm going to play the mirage most of the time. never have seen an other german poster here, hehe. nice.

Hero and I played the Mirage late Wednesday afternoon. I got in a 10/20 nitfest and was quite a ways down on the 20/40 list and never got in. Hero played the 2-5 $500 no limit. We both took small loses and picked up after an hour.

I played the Mirage years ago but the tables seemed closer together than ever. Not a room for the claustraphobic. The Bellagio room was being re-modeled and the tables placed mid-casino so we passed on it this trip.

Even in the middle of renovation, the Bellagio room is head and shoulders above the rest.

No argument here but with such limited time (and hopes to return next year) we decided to explore up strip from where we were staying (after we checked out but before we drove back).

BTW, do you know what limits will be offered at "The Wynn"?

Aladdin, for sure. The poker room in the Luxor is a miserable, horrible place to be. Their dealers are awful, the drink service shatty, the toureys crap, and so on. By way of contrast, the dealers & staff at Aladdin are fantastic, the drink service is super prompt, the tourneys affordable and sensibly structured, and so on.

I played 3/6 at Aladdin in December, the game got down to 3 handed and they agreed to deal if with NO RAKE. Now tell me what other casino is gonna do that for the players?

I've actually dealt 4 handed games with no rake or 1.00 rake, and jackpot drop (which is 100% refunded to the high hands).

The morning tourney just hit a record of 127 players. Not too shabby since we only had 11 tables. You can buy in as an alternate (just like 2k4 WSOP) and as people bust, you go right in. Not bad for a tourney that used to get 30-50, now is getting 90+ every day. Same thing with the afternoon one as well now.

That's pretty common in Vegas. Almost any room will give you at least a discounted rake for short-handed games in order to keep them going.

I've playeed heads-up 20-40 with no rake at the Mirage for about half an hour in order to try and start up a second game.
