View Full Version : What a weekend....

Disclaimer: Sorry in advance, if this type of post is bad etiquette, but I had to tell someone about this weekend!! Ever felt that way??

Anyway, so I come home Friday after school and log on to play some poker. Didn't see too many good 3/6 games, so I found some nice 2/4 tables to sit at. Shortly thereafter, I'm down about $300 /images/graemlins/frown.gif.

Later that night, I log back on. Played some 3/6, didn't really like the overall selection of the tables However, I noticed the 5/10 full games looked exceptionally good (how rare). Had a great (but short) session at 5/10, and called it a night.

Saturday, I'm feeling high after that nice 5/10 session. I didn't really feel like playing 2/4 or 3/6, and the 5/10 full games weren't that appealing. So I thought I'd take another stab at 5/10 6max (only two tables at once, though). Thankfully I did!!!

Today, logged on for another session. The 3/6 games looked pretty good, so I played them for a while.

Anyway, so after a horrible start to the weekend at 2/4, the rest of the weekend brought me an unprecedented upstreak of about $1600!! /images/graemlins/grin.gif

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v650/as2007/greatweekend.jpg

Note: some of the 2/4 and 3/6 hands were from earlier in the month.

Is this sustainable, do you think?? /images/graemlins/tongue.gif

What a rush. Thanks for listening.

Adam

PS - ever dread logging back on to play poker again, for fear that the other side of variance is going to kick you in the a$$?? /images/graemlins/crazy.gif /images/graemlins/frown.gif /images/graemlins/confused.gif

Just wrapping up a fun $2,000 week at $3/6... only about 20 hours of play too. Good times.

I think my latest streak is right up there, but I'm running super hot.

Today up just over 110 bets at the 5-10 6 max. But Im up like 320 bets in the last 8 days in 5-10 short.

Ive been running rediculously hot since mid-January. I think I'm averaging over 4BB/100 over the last 20k hands or so. The funny thing is, you know its not sustainable so you think every session you sit down that the "law of averages" or "variance" is going to catch up with you, even though that is totally irrational.

It sure is fun though isn't it?

I know this isn't limit hold'em, but I think I can one up you. This is all Omaha or Omaha 8.

I wonder if that winrate is sustainable?

Short answer: no.

Slightly less-short answer: he clearly did a bunch of postflop outplaying. If you're just learning the game your vpip will be much, much lower. Your stats shouldn't be that far off from those you'd have in hold'em.

Over the last 2 weeks I've played a bunch of the new Party100NL and 100PL HE, some drunken 2/4 HE and 25NL 6max, 75 20+2NL SNGs, 10-15 30+3/50+5MTTs, and some 100PL Omaha.

Total: $6.70

No big upswings/downswings in the process. I've been +200 and -350, but those are the extremes.

In some respects this is even more disheartening to me than a sizeable downswing (some, not all). Then at least I'd have accomplished _something_. I'm sure the folks at Gamblers Anonymous would have something to say about that one /images/graemlins/smile.gif

[/ QUOTE ]

The major reason that my VP$IP is so high is because I play predominately shorthanded. Occasionally I will play a few rounds on a full table of a 1000 PL table, but 90% of the time I play 6 handed or less. As someone else commented, I do outplay people postflop alot too. Omaha is a game where action truly breeds action. I may see every flop for a round and lose 50 bucks for 6 or 7 hands in a row, and then win a 2400 pot on the 8th hand when they get tired of me potting it every hand and I have the nuts.

This has been an amazing run for me, probably one of the best of my poker career. I think the main reason I have won so much this month is because there are so many fish that have moved up to this level that are not accustomed to it and just plain play bad.

That is nothing, man.

This past week I cleared my bonus at Party - and broke exactly even over the course of 1800 hands or so. Like, down to the penny. THAT takes skill, my friends.

I won about 100 BB this weekend at 5/10 6 max...badly needed as up until now i'd been having a pretty unstellar year. Running at around break even for the most part for a couple of months. Also won a few hundred at the 100 NL tables.

How does one only manage to break even on party when clearing a bonus?

I had sweet variance when clearing mine. At least one fish that was 75/50 or worse on at least 3 of my 4 tables the whole time i cleared it. Oh how i love going 4 bets on the river with top pair against jack high.

I have not had any good luck online lately (3-6 hold em). I made a good decision to try my local "fish pond" this weekend to see if playing live would change anything. Well I played live poker 4-8 and 6-12 on both Friday and Saturday and booked wins both nights.

Needless to say my downward cycle is continuing on line. Playing live was fun, lots of fishies, lots of action.
