Went downhill skiing yesterday with some old work buddies. I had a great time. We were skiing some off track glades (sort of open with some trees) along a ridge and some snow was wind packed and hard but most was fairly soft and great to ski. Anyway, I caught my left ski tip and did a fantastic summersault, landing on my right shoulder and leaving a very impressive dent in the snow. After untangling myself, I got up and survived the scene with a serene happiness. At 51 I can still do it - and survive.
I also went to a great restaurant and had an excellent meal, grilled shrimp for an appetizer, then a fresh spinach salad with walnuts tossed in an excellent light raspberry dressing, a New York steak, with mash potatoes and fresh snow peas, a glass of Cabernet Sauvignon, some variety from Chile – very good. Dessert was ice cream and caramel sauce with almonds. Total cost was $66 - a reasonable price for the meal.
