View Full Version : So It Dawns on Me... Aggressive on the Flop

This evening I'm playing some 3/6 and:

Party Poker 3/6 Hold'em (10 handed) converter (http://www.selachian.com/tools/bisonconverter/hhconverter.cgi)

Preflop: Hero is MP1 with K/images/graemlins/diamond.gif, K/images/graemlins/heart.gif.
<font color="#666666">1 fold</font>, <font color="#CC3333">UTG+1 raises</font>, <font color="#666666">1 fold</font>, <font color="#CC3333">Hero 3-bets</font>, <font color="#666666">3 folds</font>, Button calls, <font color="#666666">2 folds</font>, UTG+1 calls.

Flop: (10.33 SB) 3/images/graemlins/spade.gif, T/images/graemlins/spade.gif, 6/images/graemlins/spade.gif <font color="#0000FF">(3 players)</font>
<font color="#CC3333">UTG+1 bets</font>, <font color="#CC3333">Hero raises</font>, <font color="#CC3333">Button 3-bets</font>, <font color="#CC3333">UTG+1 caps</font>, Hero folds, Button calls.

Turn: (10.16 BB) 7/images/graemlins/spade.gif <font color="#0000FF">(2 players)</font>
<font color="#CC3333">UTG+1 bets</font>, Button calls.

River: (12.16 BB) 3/images/graemlins/club.gif <font color="#0000FF">(2 players)</font>
<font color="#CC3333">UTG+1 bets</font>, Button calls.

Final Pot: 14.16 BB

So it dawns on me, UTG raises, I re-raise. The flop comes and he's raising. I three bet it to find out where I'm at, and it gets capped. Finally, I'm using the bets to REALLY find out where I'm at, clearly someone here has a huge hand for that to happen. Instead of playing passively by calling the cap, I fold, saving me at least $12, w/ top pair as I may have done.

So this is one of those lights that comes (albeit it should have come earlier).

Any comments or concerns with this play or should I post it in the small stakes forum?

It's party 3/6, I expect one of your oponents to show A4h, and the other a pair of deuces, no spade. Raising for information against these yahoos gets you nowhere, call them down.

It's interesting that you suggest that I call this down, because usually when its four-bet someone is going to show me a set. My results with pokertracker are showing me that I'm losing money with high card (obviously) and top pair, so when I gave that consideration during this hand I figured that it would be a losing proposition?

Good fold on the flop. Do not call down with a monotone flop and it gets capped with an overpair.
