PP Step 3 Single Table. I'd just blown a moderate chip lead when I lost 3/4 of my stack with JJ when the flop came T high and I ran into QQ. Blinds are T50/100, only 2 hands left before the blinds go up, 8 players left.

I am UTG, ~T500 left in my stack. Other stack sizes are kinda of irrelevant since just about everyone has me covered. I pick up A /images/graemlins/heart.gifJ /images/graemlins/spade.gif UTG and push.

Should I have waited for a better spot? My reasoning was that I only have 5BB left, the blinds are about to come around to me and are also about to increase, so I won't have as much fold equity on the following round.

Thoughts?

OK, thanks. I'm kinda new to SNG's and one of my biggest problems is playing shortstacked when there are still a large numbers in the field. I just wanted to make sure that AJo wasn't a bad spot to push.

I pick up A J UTG and push

That would be correct.

Should I have waited for a better spot?

Yes.

You obviously lost this hand.

It would however be wrong to wait for a better spot next time.

i only play results. if i win pushing 27 i will push 27 till i lose. if i lose pushing aces i will fold them. no reason not to right?

Your thoughts are correct. You don't have enough chips to afford to wait for a better hand than this.

AJ or a small - medium pair is about the minimum hand I'm looking for to push in that situation. Looks like a good play to me.
