You have to play it more aggressively. Can't put villain on AA just yet.

i 3-bet this flop and call a cap. lead on the turn and then slow down if raised.

Thanks - I was also worried about a set, but you are right - I need to 3bet and see what villain does. It is premature to put him on anything that beats me.

3-bet the flop. JJ QQ maybe AT are the most likely but a lot of players do this sorta thing with AK or AQ. If he caps you, I'd bet the turn and call down a raise or maybe just check/call down if villain isn't aggressive.

I'm with the others, 3-bet the flop, call a cap, lead the turn, then slow down if he's still there (but call down, don't fold).

I understand exactly where you are coming from about the set (although the straight in the making is what worries me), because I started out playing the same way. But my results are so much better since I stopped making up reasons to back off. The number of possible things that can beat you is SO much greater than what your opponents actually hold that it's silly to back off just because there's a pair or 3-flush on the board. True, this way you will occasionally be shown to have been betting and raising into a superior hand, and you'll lose a big pot and look silly. But, over the long run, you make so much more money that way.

At least you do at .50/1, where betting and cards held are only loosely correlated. Maybe that changes at higher limits, but at .50/1 I think you keep going until you determine "i'm probably beat here", not "I may be beat here."

TT?

Seriously - I see people capping with PPs all the time on Party .5/1. If he was a moneybag I'd have been less concerned. Still gotta 3bet the flop though.

You see A LOT of crazy things all the time at Party 50/1 /images/graemlins/smile.gif. But unless you have a solid read you gotta go with what looks probable not with what's possible. I think you're probably ahead.
