Angle shot or honest mistake???

I'm playing in a $100 Sattelite and its down to three. the villian is in the 1 seat, the "next guy out (NGO)" is in the 2 seat, and I am in the 4 seat. I get involved in a hand with the NGO- he bets, I raise him all in, and he then places the rest of his chips in a neat stack near the pot but also within reach of the villian in seat 1. I win the hand, NGO gets up, dealer starts to push me the pot, and at the same time, villian grabs the neat stack (that should have been pushed into the pot) and places it right on top of his stack of chips!!!!!

I immediately protest that those are my chips but now there is really no way to know exactly how many were there. The villian has a somewhat sheepish look, throws some chips out and says "was it about that much?"

I like to give the benifit of the doubt here, but it sure could have been a shot at me.

Anyone dealt with this one before?

I've had that problem a few times except it was a rogue chip flying in the direction of someone else's stack. I've never seen a whole stack of chips pilfered. Seems like an angle shot to me. Did you win the satellite anyway?

Of course seat 1 was attempting to steal chips, since he would have had no reason to be handling chips at that moment. If I had any doubts that he was attempting to short me on the return, I would have said "No, there were at least "x" more." If he balked, I would have said loudly "Do I have to ask them to review the tape of you attempting to cheat!"

Well, I did, and perhaps this move influenced me on the deal the guy tried to make. See the first case in the post below:

I thought about kicking the crap out of him, but I had a large chip lead and wanted to just take his money.

I guess I'm not creating the best visual- part of this was clearly the dealer's fault as all the chips should have been accounted for after the showdown. I have a reasonable doubt that the villian (who had been playing with his chips all tourney) saw the stack close to him and thought they were part of his chips. I hope so. I usually don't carry my glock in the casino but I suppose I could start....

i'd get completely irate if i saw something like this happen.. get the floor over, review the tape, hit him with a timeout and just steal his blinds instantly

There is no benefit of the doubt in this one. First off, he wasn't involved in the hand.
