View Full Version : Coming Soon: North America v. Europe III

codewarrior

We're overdue for NA v. Europe III. If I recall correctly, the score is 1:1 right now, so this should be a good one. This is a team tournament, with players declaring which side they are on (or neutral). Points will be awarded based on finish position, for bragging rights as to which continent is superior. Plus, it's fun, and the banter is amusing, both at the tables an in the forums.

As you may know, the tournament will be a private game held on Stars. That said, let's poll for when and what we are playing for. Keep in mind that the buy-in has traditionally been $10+1, to allow newer players or players with a limited bankroll to enjoy a great tournament with some very good players for cheap.

I tentatively plan to hold the tournament in two weeks. Let's discuss. Thanks!

(Chuck, can we make this thread a sticky?)

So far it looks like a Sunday, 2pmEST, $10+1 game. Everyone vote!!! I'll give it a week or so to make the final determination of date/time, after consulting with the other 2+2 game starters/shameless pimps. I will also start accepting PM's and emails (email's in my profile) for team declarations.

Thanks! /images/graemlins/laugh.gif

PS, let the North America v. Europe taunting begin! /images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Eh, those socialist Euros will probably just want to split the buyin evenly while still paying the vig. (They love their taxes over there.) Why bother?

(Guess which team I'm on. And don't forget Poland!)

That's what I thought as well. I heard they've developed a car that runs on Foster's, however.

NA vs Euro I & II were great successes. Thanks to everybody who helped me put them together. Because of my current work schedule, the next one just isn't going to happen any time soon under my auspices.

Because of this I have passed the torch to Codewarrior and his trusty drill sergeant TaxGoddess who will be organizing version III. Please give them your support. I will, as best I can. This should be a great tournament. I am looking forward to it.

Bring it on EuroWimps!

Thanks for the vote of confidence, Doc.

Who wants to captain the Euro team this time?

Edit: Chuck, can we please make this a sticky?

Well well, look what I've stumbled upon, a challenge /images/graemlins/smile.gif

Accepted cousin code /images/graemlins/wink.gif

Since Mack was the first Euro to take up the challenge I think he should receive the honour of being the first victorious Euro Captain and so will nominate him for the post.

Much as like to think it is 1-1 - Euro lost by a few points in game 2 of the series, so we have much to prove.

I'm in for Euro and I'm sure N.Ireland can put a few other players together, I'm on it.

I'm in for the Eurowimps if I happen to have access to the internet at the time. Will I need to PM someone or does this suffice as entry?

DrPhysic

If code does this the way I did (which I suspect) you will need to send him an e-mail with 2+2 name, PokerStars name, and team.

A little early for signups yet. He needs to finish with the survey so a hard date and time for the tourny can be set.

Yes, PM or email me (email's in my profile). I will also check the threads for team declarations - but I realy recommend PM's. I'll start the spreadsheet. Doc, can you email me the scorekeeping stuff? I'm not sure I still have that.

I don't know much about Quebec or wherever those gummint types hang out, but anybody from Alberta has to be allright with me. One of my fav places. And we darn sure want Eder on our team!

Keep those PM's coming people. Just for the record, this game is not this Sunday, although the date/time of the game will be set this weekend.

However, there is a regular Sunday game at 1pm on Stars that UKgazz puts together.

Be scared USA representatives. Just had an email from Praying Mantis who will play for Euro land assuming it doesn't clash with his assault on the EPT.

He travels out today for his attack on Vienna, prior to Monte Carlo AND the man just came back from qualifying for Scandinavian open. All 3 qualified from pokerstars.

Glad jackarama made it too, just back from his 8th place at the European Hall of Fame tourney in Paris which the Devilfish won

Euro team good looking good /images/graemlins/wink.gif. Just need more numbers, we're always short numbers, feloow Euro players, email, PM, phone, write, anything, let's just try to get together some decent numbers to take on the USA.

I will play if I can manage to get some money into my Stars account. Actually if someone out there wouldn't mind doing a Party/Stars swap, please PM me.

I will be representing the North Pole.

Hmmm, if even Ilya is in perhaps I ought to make a Stars account just for this purpose. Of course, I'd want to know what time it will be to see if I can actually play.

If I do I will be representing South of the South Pole (do you see why???).

Code/Doc

Had email also from Tim Perkin who has asked to be kept in the loop for dates/times etc although apparently he's not playing many MTT's these days. He's absolutely not available 1st 2 weeks April.

Was at local club last and tried to stir up interest there, some were struggling with concept and others thought it was Team USA v Team Europe I was talking about (i.e "Jesus" Ferguson, Ivey, Hendon mob et al /images/graemlins/smirk.gif)

Mmmmm, must express myself better /images/graemlins/smile.gif

But hopefully I can get 1 or two to play when the date is hardened.

Votes will be tallied and the day/time set for the dance sometime Saturday. The game will be the following weekend. Keep those PM's coming. I will also compile a list of everyone that has "signed up" so far and post it.

Hopefully, by Sunday, I will have the actual tournament created on Stars, if people want to go ahead and sign up officially there.
