Cash?
Tourney?
What's new about them?
I don't play on party, but I'm wondering if this is a reason I should.
Explanation por favor.

Normal ring games but with normal (100 big blind) stacks instead of the rubbish (50 big blind) "Stacks" they had before.

Much better for anyone with a clue.

Also a vastly expanded selection of limits. Top limit previously was $200 max buyin, now there's $400, $600, $1000.

At the risk of sounding like an idiot, I have to ask: Isn't a "ring game" a cash game (I always thought so)? Judging by your responses, I'm guessing not. What you're telling me is they now have $1000.00 sit and go's on party, and they've also doubled the starting stack size?

Yes, "ring game" is the same as "cash game".

All the NL games on party have restricted buy-ins. It used to be that the maximum buy-in was equal to 50x the big blind. It is now 100x the big blind.

They have also added larger buy-in games. It used to be the largest buy-in was $200 (2/4 blinds). It is now $1000 (5/10 blinds).

Thanks for the clarification. I'm kind of surprised to hear party has been so restricted in the past.

Like all sites, party caps the rake per hand at $3. Therefore, they aren't maximizing profits when they offer high limit games. Rather than offer 100/200 limit like pokerstars, they force the pros to 8 table the 15/30 games.

They also don't want the fish to lose too fast.

Conversely, they don't offer anything below .50/1 because they'd make no money. Better to force people to play higher.

You can complain about their support and software, but these people do know how to make money. I'm looking forward to their IPO.
