View Full Version : Jewelry on guys

What do you guys wear?

Are you a guido with gold chains everywhere?

Are you some skater dude wearing some black cord and beads?

Are you a minority that feels like a midget is hangin from your necklace?

Do you wear a politically correct yellow bracelet to support god knows what?

Are you homosexual and wear a friendship bracelet?

Do you think jewelry should be left for girls to wear?

Please ignore the stereotypes but it seems everyone falls into one of these catergories.

Edit: forgot rings...engagement ring? class ring? nothumb,, a 300 ring?? /images/graemlins/cool.gif

I don't wear any jewlery unless my wristwatch counts.

I kind of want a pinky ring though. Everyone I tell that to gives me a face. I probably deserve it....still kinda want the ring though...

No jewelry. Not even a watch, although I'm probably going to get another one sooner or later. Glancing at a wristwatch is much more discreet than checking the time on your phone.

Since this is OOT, I'm going off-topic here. Last weekend I'm playing at the Grand in Biloxi, MS. There's a loudmouth weak tightie at the 10-20. During his rantings at the table, he's expounded the facts that:
1) He's only been dealt JJ 12 times in his life.
2) AA has been shown by computer studies to lose more money than it wins over longterm for average players.
3) He's got a great "No-4" system for the craps table.

Finally he cuts into me after I rag on his aces theory and tells me that I must be one of the less than average players. I had caught some particularly bad beats at that table in the last couple of hours so I lit into him. I know it's -EV but what the hell. I explain to him that if he's only been dealt JJ 12 times over his career, that I'm pretty damn sure I've played a helluva lot more poker than he has.

All this is beside point, he later notes that the dealer has a nice pinkie ring on. Dealer gives him the ring to look at. Idiot inquires as to cost. Dealer says $79 at K-mart. Wow, remarks idiot. "That's easily a $200 ring. See. Now that's what I'm talking about, a man who recognizes value."

Point: If you're getting a pinkie ring make sure you get a good value at Kmart so that the idiots at the table are impressed.

How in the world do you know what the image was in my mind. Point was that demographic is all the same to me.

If you are a white guy you are one of 5 types.

You are a punk/preppy/MTV-influenced person who keeps up with fashion trends and would wear that type of junk. You define materialistic.

Some gothic person or have a zillion face piercings and dye your hair or wear spiked collars etc.

You are some tough guy jock, who dresses conservatively or wears muscle shirts or polos.

You are some outcast who doesnt care about clothes and would buy jeans from Wal-Mart and wear sweatpants and not think twice about it.

You think you are black and dress in extremely baggy clothes and have that cheesy thin 1/4 inch thick beard.

Point being those necklaces whether its a black cord or that shell thing fit a general type of person.

"The chicks dig it"...Congratulations, you get the kind of girl you are looking for. I guarentee you there are tons of girls who think guys that look like that are panzies.

For the sake of arguement those black cords and shells are far closer than any other generic catergory of social classes.

So I guess somewhere in your little rant about being "the definition of materialism" and being "impressionable" and "influenced by MTV"....putting everybody who dresses how you happen not to like in a category and basically insulting everyone who fits in there...

Yeah, I guess you were totally fair about all that - to each their own huh?

I wear clothes for myself - clothes are clothes. I don't wear them BECAUSE "chicks dig 'em" but that's a nice side benefit. I guess you're either too old or too "nonconformist" to understand anybody's point of view beside your own.

You're more than welcome to not like what I wear (because you probably wouldn't look good in it anyways), but I'm also welcome to think you're a tool for judging people by what they wear.

Oooooh, that was a great comeback. I own your ass and you call me a 13-year-old. Good work, buddy.

Anybody with half a brain can see that you're just a prick who can't deal with the "popular" kids in your school. Did you get picked on a lot as a child? I bet you did.

Not doing something because "other people are doing it" doesn't make you better than anybody, it just makes you too insecure to accept anybody else's viewpoint.

[/ QUOTE ]

OK, I lied. You apparently haven't had enough yet.

For the longest time I was like you, BOOT, I admit it. I hated the "cool kids"...back when I was in middle school. Then I grew up a little bit. I realized that clothes don't make the person - if you like what you wear, there's no reason not to wear it, and there's certainly no reason to let jealous assholes like you get me down for doing what I want to do. So I decided to lighten up a bit (something that would help you - you're wrapped way too tight for life) and just kinda let people do what they want. I didn't make fun of the "goth" kids no matter how ridiculous I thought it was to wear black lipstick and spiky dog collars in public. I didn't hate the "in" crowd for wearing things they liked either, no matter what it was. What's important is who the person is, and clothing sure as hell doesn't define that - actions do.

So, following my last statement, actions define you as a judgmental clown. You refuse to accept anybody who dresses in the "trendy" style, most likely because you can't pull it off and deep down, you're jealous. Like I said, I used to be the same way. But then I made it to high school and got a little maturity in my years. In 20 years (21 in June) I've apparently learned a hell of a lot more than you have in however many years you've got.

NOW are you done? You keep lobbin' me softballs and I'll jack 'em out of the [censored]' park.

Now I'm done with this and show my "maturity" by not hopping back in after I said I wasn't going to.

If you were so damn slick and learned so much in your 20 yrs you would recognize Zero's and not "O's" on a computer.

Wrong I think guys look gay. Growing up in NY is probably a lot different than Minnesota. I can assure you, where I grew up "being cool" was not wearing that [censored], and I'm not left out of anything.

Playing football and hockey was being in the "in crowd"

I played football too. And basketball (I was born in Southern Indiana). But I guess that tough NY style just rips me up. You're clearly the most unbiased, tolerant person out here with "guys look gay".

And you call me ignorant. Find a mirror you haven't broken yet and take a good long look. Then recognize that not everybody is going to agree with pricks like you. Also notice that NOWHERE in my posts did I say "wearing the clothes I wear makes me cool." Thanks for putting words in my mouth and showing how retarded you really are.

I do wonder how you dress though, since clearly you're more manly than everyone else here who agreed with me...

Probably something like...

Stick a fork in B00T, he's done.

("you would probably recognize 0s instead of O's)...yeah, I guess I should. Guess that makes you one of those REALLY cool guys who thinks putting numbers instead of letters in your word is something special. How many people do THAT, you conformist. You're a [censored] hypocrite. Guess that's your NY education showing too - have you even finished HS yet, you sack of crap?

They're strong enough to beat his. I think my post where I admit I used to be just like him was particularly strong.

Doesn't take a lot to own a guy who's stepping on his own dick with every post he makes. Notice that nowhere in there did I ever insult what other people wear, I merely responded to his (sad) attempts to bash me and took him down. I wasn't trying especially hard.

Thanks for at least being understanding of the "beach look"...like I said, I'm a bum, I need summer back here in MN fast, go out to the river... /images/graemlins/cool.gif

I wear a watch, sometimes a neclace.

Basically if you can wear it- and do it with confidence, you can pull off most anything, IMO.

I wear zero jewelry whatsoever, but I don't have anysort of attitude about other guys wearing jewelry, it's just never done anything for me so I would never spend the money on any and I guess my friends and family realize it wouldn't make a very good gift.

Do people think reposting the same old hot tub pic completely out of context is funny? What was Daryn's quote of jakethebake, "he's like the kid who gets a joke that somebody laughs at, and then he runs up to everybody at a party and tells the same joke."

Hot tub was funny, jakeTB killed it.
