I am heading to vegas in 5 days... and will be playing around 8-10 hours a day (maybe more some days) for about 5 days... From what I am reading comps can run anywhere from 1 to 3 dollars an hour. My room is pretty cheap, so I am more interested in "cool" comps like free food, free merchandise (would LOVE a jacket from one of these places), free future rooms, etc. I am expecting 40-50 hours for the whole trip in the rooms, but I do want to try out some of the other rooms like the Mirage, Bellagio, etc just for kicks. (This is my 2nd time playing Poker in vegas and the first time I sucked and played like 2 hours).

It's time for you to lower your expectations dramatically.

Just about every room on the Strip will offer a $4-$6 food comp for 4-5 hours of play. You can only get one comp per day.

The Bellagio and Mirage will give one larger comp per week.

$5 food per day for 4 hours play at Mandalay.. $7 food per day for 4 hours play at Palms... Imperial has $2/hr, but isn't a great card room... Orleans has something..
but that is pretty much the best your gonna get, expect for poker room rates, which will drop rooms in price about 50-100 a nite, at places like Mirage

Orleans has a 9.00 max per day in comps. It's like 1.25/hr for first 4 hours, then .75 till its capped at 9.00.

Imperial Palace gives 3.00 per hour comp, which is the best comp rate in town.

Most poker rooms have poker rates for the hotels, but it's based on occupancy and length of play. Also, you cannot book your room through internet sites at some casinos, you have to book directly from them and contact the poker room to find out if they will give you a rate.

two questions
- the comp card for the orleans poker room is different than the pit card for Blackjack? Orleans seems to have a different card for every damn area... Comps good for subway?

- Imperial is $3 hr .. no max? how many times have you seen an NL game spread there?

thanks

Your poker comp at the Orleans is for whatever amount that you specify (up to your total accrued value). You can use it wherever you want.
