He actually did have a farewell post in the middle of some huge thread where he was in a flame war (interestingly enough the only I ever saw that he started) and he prettly clearly retired from posting.

People, people, you don't understand. He's not gone. He never existed! ElDiablo made him up a while ago, back when he was still makeing strategy posts, so that he could twiddle his thumbs in OT at the same time. Slowly, ElD started to migrate over to OT himself, but, being the best troll maker of them all, he refused to let TSC go. Instead, he began passing the user name and pw on to other frequent mid, high posters who like to talk about trivial things such as Clarkmeister, The Dude, GoT, etc.

As the whole scheme progressed, more and more people ended up with his user information, which is how he ended up posting so often. I mean, do you honestly think that someone can post that much in such a short period of time on a poker message board, and almost never actually post in the poker forums? Please, do not try your pity attempts at justification on me.

I know, this is hard to imagine, but believe me, once you realize the truth of the poster you all loved and hated, you will be able to deal with the situation much better.
