This is on the new Party $100 table ($1 BB). I have villain covered, he has ~$110.

JJ UTG, raise to 4.5. Villain UTG+1 calls, SB calls.

Flop(~$13.5): Jh, Td, 9h
SB checks, I bet $12, villain calls, SB folds.

Turn(~$37):(Jh, Td, 9h) 5h
I check, Villain checks

River(~$37):(Jh, Td, 9h, 5h) 8d
I check, Villain bets $25, I fold.

Man it sucks, but I have to agree that calling the river here is probably -EV. Then again, he could have AJ, AK, 99, or TT. Though he'd have to play pretty badly to play one of those hands like this. FWIW, I'd usually bet the turn here, as it's likely he was on a straight draw and not the flush draw.

Not betting the turn here is a crime. You would need to have a pretty solid read on villain's pre and postflop tendencies to think you are behind on the turn. I would make it $25.

I agree and I disagree.

Problem with any turn bet is you are committed to an all in, as you have redraw outs. whereas you technically, if you believe you are now behind, check/call the turn (profitably) and extract the rest if you boat, fold or call depending on your read if you dont.

The way the hand played out the river fold is good, although I would cringe.

I bet a pot here on turn. if heavily reraised, fold.

Assuming we did not bet the the turn, is betting the river an option? Maybe like 10-12 to protect ourselves from being bluffed? WOuld something like this be a good idea?
