I'm not really a no-limit tourney player, but is this really standard? Thanks guys.

Hero bets *and* folds at the same time? That's weird indeed... /images/graemlins/smile.gif

I assume it's the BB who folds, and I would have pushed pre-flop after the BB re-raises you. Your bet on the flop is too small (giving your opponent 6 to 1 on his call).

I really don't understand why this guy folds his hand after your small bet.

He pushed, and I folded.

Do you always push Q/Q in this pre-flop situation and resign to lose all your chips to K/K or A/A?

I would call with Q/Q and push with Kings or Aces. Could someone explain to me why this is wrong?

...as for the flop, I would bet 400-500.

Don't do this in the early rounds (and probably not in the later, either) of on line tournaments. You should push this flop, if you decide for whatever reason to not push pre flop. You are giving your opponents WAY too much credit. (You need a very strong read to lay down an over pair.)

no way im folding this, exactly the kind of flop you want to see with QQ. Push and if he has KK or AA so be it.

In online tourneys your starting stack is simply too shallow and the blinds escalate too rapidly to pass up opportunities like this. You have a monster, and while it is true that a bigger monster may be out there, there are simply too many yoyos in these tourneys - especially in the first few levels - to write this hand off as a loser simply b/c you got reraised preflop.

So you'll bet 60-70% of your stack, then consider folding to a raise? That's pretty horrible advice, don't you think?

Yes it is. I should have looked back at his starting stack first.

I guess Queens are just going to eat it against Kings or Aces here everytime. No profitable way around it. I'm pushing after the re-raise pre-flop from now on. Thanks for setting me straight.

Against a total unknown, I think you have to.

I'm putting all my chips at risk here. He could have A/J. He could have A/? of spades. You've got the best hand.
