If I remember correctly, Hero has $2400 left and Layne has about the same. Value bet, check?

Not like he has much to checkraise with anyways. If you're going to bet, you might as well put the rest in.. otherwise check behind.

First of all, that minraize before the flop is strange. Either he has a poor starting hand, or he has a monster. After the turn, when Layne bets and then calls your raise, I would immediately put him on a good hand.

Considering the above, I do not think Layne have AK or AQ. He could either have a weak starting hand like KQ, or a monster like AA. Both would make him play roughly the same way.

Either way, you are beat. Easy check!

CHECK. What do you think he's going to call with here? KJ? He's not a moron, and he's faced significant action. No value in betting the river.
