So I won a seat to the World Open on partypoker tonight. Looks like it will be a weird time- 14k per entry and a 1M prize pool suggests something like only 8 tables of 9... and it takes place in a tv studio.

Anyway, is anyone else going? Would like to meet up with you.

Also... where in London should I look for side games? Should I resign myself to playing PLO or is anything else played there now?

PLO and Pot limit HE £50 and £100 game at the Vic casino think regular HE games nowadays, need to join 24hrs in advance, the form is online and can be faxed.

Gutshot has smaller HE and PLO but mainly dealers choice seems to be the bigger game, can just turn up there.

Thanks for responding.. to be clear, you're talking about a game with £50 and £100 buyins, not blinds, right?

Is there anywhere to get a game in the £500 buyin range? Or say, a £20-£40 limit hold'em game?

Limit Holdem in the UK no chance at all.

Yes the buy ins are £50 and £100, havent been there so not sure what the blinds are, I have seen reported that the £50 game is a bit wild and the 100 game can get to quite high stacks. Only other place is the Western which but its right out the town centre I beleive bigger games get going there but to be honest you go there at your own risk as the legality of the place is open to question as is some of the characters running it.

From what you are saying I think the vic is your best bet even if lower limits than you would like.

I done a bit more searching at it looks like you may be able to by in for more in the £100 than £100 form a post I have seen elsewhere it may be you can buy in for up to £600 why its called the 100 game (edit looks like 100 is the minimum buy in) if thats the case I dont know.

The gutshot festival is on that week so you might want to play in one of those events, but probably also means some bigger cash action.

European Series of Poker (http://www.gutshot.co.uk/article.php?120)

Thanks for the info. Looks like 1/2 it is... and as insane as it may seem, I may have to find other things to do besides poker.

(gasp)

I won a seat a while back. I have no idea why they're throwing this thing. There's no info on it, and Party's not saying anything. My guess it's just for the sat qualifiers; I've been speculating whether it's a double shoot-out, but it doesn't add up, unless there are 9x8 players. By the time-frame it seems there's play on the first weekend, and final on the second; so I asked my teenage daughter to come along; which means I prolly wont be doing much side-games - mostly shopping and sightseeing - she wants to go to Madame Taussaud's... Hotel is a country-club with a golfcourse. I don't play golf, hope they have a pitch&put course as well. Interested? Say hi when you see me.

Also there's the European Poker Classics at the
Grosvenor Victoria Casino 26 March - 3 April 2005 which seems a bigger event than the gutshot one; although the main (£1,500) event starts same day as "ours".

The last Party poker one was shown on UK TV I guess this one is too, these type of shows are tending to have heats of 6 people 2 going through to a semi so I would expect 6x9 in the first round with then 3 semi finals.

6x9 doesn't add up to the $1mil. purse we're promised.
12x6 does tho. 12 winners to the semifinal with top 3 at each table in a final. It's kinda odd they got the structure, schedule and prizemoney for heatwinners down for the British Open, which they're hosting as well, more or less at the same time, but not for this one where winner takes 4x the other.

Guess, we'll just have to wait and see.
I'm just happy to be free-rolling for $400K in a small field.
