Are there any (free?) programs available on which you can practice heads-up game play? I've tried setting TTHv5 to run 2 players, but it doesn't work right (if the small blind calls, the big blind cannot bet). Thanks.

On UB I saw a "player" in a HU room with "Bot" in its name. I sat down and then did nothing -- just flat sat out. "Bot" didn't say anything. I would have expected a real person to speak up, which leads me to conclude that the name really is accurate. So, to end my rambling, try the UB 1-on-1 tables and see if there isn't a bot to play against. It's not perfect, but it's likely better than TTH. Additionally, you're welcome to meet us on Monday nights for some practice.

My last post was missing some details (sorry). I'm looking for offline heads-up limit Texas Hold'em.

It's not free, but Hoyle Casino 6 will allow you to play limit Texas Hold'em with between 1 and 7 other players.

I'm not experiencing the problem you describe. I have Version 5.0 as well. You may want to e-mail Bob Wilson - he will probably tell you there is a setting you need to change and which one it is.

However I still don't recommend Turbo for practicing head up except in evaluating very simple strategems. The program can't learn, and in head up it's been my experience that how you adjust to your opponent and vice versa is what matters.

That was a bug that I found for Bob. He fixed it and it should be in the later releases of 5.0.

Ask him about it.

I believe bob's making some software changes that might address this problem (of learning)...
