UTG limps. Two folds, and I raise it with A /images/graemlins/heart.gifQ /images/graemlins/club.gif. Folded to the blinds who both call, and UTG calls.

Flop: Q /images/graemlins/heart.gif 9 /images/graemlins/club.gif 8 /images/graemlins/spade.gif

SB leads out, BB calls, and UTG folds. My first thought was to raise, and in hindsight I think I should have. However I didn't think a raise would protect my hand at all so I decided to wait until the turn to raise. Bad play?

Turn: 8 /images/graemlins/club.gif

SB bets out, and BB raises. I fold. I feel like this is pretty weak, but at the time I had a strong feeling that this player would only make this play with trips. Is this weak?

no reason to get fancy here, raise the flop.

the hand plays a lot different after that.

In this situation your TPTK in a medium sized shorthanded pot is a very strong holding that isn't in need of much protection, so you should raise the flop for value.
