I am going to be moving to Portland, OR at the beginning of May. I have a 19' CRT monitor and a tower computer. I really want to check it under the plane. I got SW Airlines details about checking my computer, but wanted to know your thoughts on the matter. i really don't want to ship it via ups, fedex, etc.. because I want to be able to use it right when I get there (I need it for business). Plus, it will be a little cheaper to bring on the plane. I also don't think UPS or FedEx will handle the computer any better. I am going to wrap it in bubble wrap, but this obviously won't protect things from becoming loose if they drop it. any thoughts?

If it were me, I'd take the hard drive out and bring it with me, and ship the tower and monitor via FedEx/UPS with insurance on it. That way if it breaks, it's covered, and your data is still safe and sound and with you at all times.
