I voted for bacon (pork) because that's far and away the best "conventional" breakfast meat, but I think steak should've definitely been involved in this one. Granted, its more of a dinner meat, but Steak and Eggs is very, very good in the morning.

EDIT TO ADD: What the [censored] is "peameal"?

If you don't know/ever tried it. . .Portugese sausage. (Redondos is my top choice) I don't think you can find this outside few west coast cities and Hawaii. But is definitely my favorite breakfast meat.

I voted for pork bacon; but there should be some sort of option for sausage patty (on a biscuit), which rules. I don't like plain sausage.

Bacon-pork, but only if it's extra crispy.

It's impossible for me to imagine that there are things that taste better than (pork) bacon.

Oddly enough, it's what canadians call 'canadian bacon'.

see:

realcanadianbacon.com (or something like that). A canadian at work is always linking it.

Voted for sausage, but it's either links or patties. I like the spicy styled italian sausauges with eggs and potatoes.

Scrapple ain't meat. We had some scrapple in a can once. One of the ingredients was "boned pork heads." That just doesn't qualify in my book.

Voted sausage due to no steak. I would say chorizo (Mexican sausage) if I was getting specific. Best breakfast food = chorizo, egg, cheese and some random stuff on a sourdough pizza when I used to prep in a pizza joint.

I mean, bacon is wonderful stuff, but it takes the sausage patty, egg, swiss cheese and a bagel to make a sandwich.

I don't know where you're from or what you ate that came out of a can, but it wasn't scrapple. It is, most assuredly, meat, and very tasty.

Ahah my friend, I didn't eat it. I'm from FL, but my father's family is straight Pennsylvania-Dutch, so I know that actual scrapple is good. I was just messing with you-- although that canned scrapple did list pork heads as an ingredient.

Edit: I do find the concluding paragraph from the article you cited hilarious:

"Although edible raw, Scrapple is usually sliced and fried in butter or lard. Served in a deep, placid pool of egg yolk and ketchup, it is a veritable cholesterol meltdown. It is in arguably and unfathomably vile. "

Other.

I'm lucky enought to travel to Germany once a year for a big flooring show.

The breakfast spread at every good German Hotel that I have stayed at is incredible.

They have every kind of cold cuts and other meat imaginable.
Now don't think of your basic cold cuts, these are amazing.
Their bacon is also something to behold. I'm Canadian and their bacon is the best, bar none.

Couple all that with 15 different kinds of fresh baked bread and it is really the best breakfast ever.

I look forward to going to Germany every year just for the breakfasts.

FWIW I usually stay at the Dorint Hotels, very good, not outrageously expensive.

Regards,
Woodguy

I don't like eating meat for breakfast. I'm not a vegetarian or anything but I just don't like to.

I like eating it for dinner.

If I want to have a good breakfast, I'll have pancakes with syrup, french toast, hash browns, Lucky Charms with skim milk, and some rye toast with margarine. Now that's a good breakfast.
