Hi all. I've been reading the thread on the dice chips and had a question about the chips I just purchased on ebay. There 11.5g 4 ace chips with the design where the aces are positioned at each corner and pointed toward the middle of the chip. From my limited experience of playing in casinos, I really like these chips. I think they have a good feel to them and they look really cool too. Anyone else came across these? Eventually, of course, I'd love to get some nicer chips. Are paulson or chipco chips the way to go? If so, where's a good place to get them at? TIA

I'm not familiar with the chips you describe, but really... if you like them the're good enough. Yes, Paulson and Chipco are the top of the line, depending on whether you like clay or ceramic. You can get the group buy "egyptians" and "suits" Chipcos at holdempokerchips.com. For some more budget minded alternatives, check out pokerchips.com (long wait time, custom edgespots on clay) and nevadajacks.net. nj.net is having a sort of sale on thier ceramic chips right now. I would rate them an "8" or a "9" if a chipco is a "10" from my samples. Very good chips and very reasonable right now.

I personally bought the "nexgen 8000" available from 5stardeal and had jason print me labels for them. For my purposes these are perfect, the only reason for me to get real clay chips at this point would be vanity. 700 chips, labels, acrylic racks and an Elite700 case from different sources all for $270 shipped to my door. That's $0.386 per chip, including racks and case, to my door. The labels take less than an hour per 100 chips to apply (not worried about facing, just centering).

Thanks Smoo. I definitely like these for now but would probably want to upgrade on down the road, as I come across chips I like more. Right now, I simply haven't seen enough chips to know otherwise.

If your chips have a recessed center that's flat (no texture), then custom labels will really jazz them up. My friends can't believe my chips now. I have some "faux clay" chips too and tried to put a label on one... it fits without adding thickness but there's something about the plastic the're made of that won't let the label stick.

Yeah, you'll pay more for them now but it's the same price as say the "classics" and they look a lot better, IMO.
