I'm trying to learn O8, and I know I suck right now. Should I be trying to keep people in with the nut low here? I panicked and thought I might be able to get everyone else to fold. Is this terrible?

I'm not a big fan of the flop re-raise here. All you have is a low with no real way of scooping (backdoor flush be damned). I can see MP1 going for clubs and the original better maybe having 2 pr (my guess is he'd have bet more with a str8 to protect it). You might also have a player who's free-rolling for high, or a player with A23x in which case a 2 will devestate you.

A fold might even be preferable to the re-raise here, depending on your reads at the time, since you don't want to put $42 into the pot only to get $28 back.

I might call on the flop, but probably fold. I would never raise as you basically you only have the nut low with only mild counterfeit protection and a back door nut flush draw. With a bettor, a raiser AND a cold-caller you can expect another A2 to be out there very frequently.

Really? Is that standard in loose PLO8 games? Do you basically only want to commit your chips if you have a way of scooping?

Yes.

EDIT: Or 3/4ing.

Of course, why call pot sized bets when the best you can hope for is half of what was in the pot PF?

Although with all the callers, the pot is bigger, but what are they calling with? They all on high draws? Or really bad lows?

Thanks guys, I ended up splitting the low, but I only lost $4 on the hand total. I think I'll work on learning at limit for a while.
