Given the choice, would you prefer a dual 17" lcd setup, each running at 1280x1024 or 1 20" lcd running at 1600x1200? This question is for those that 3 or 4-table.

I'm having trouble deciding, I currently have a single 17" lcd, and the overlap when 3+ tabling is getting annoying (I do love the screen though).

Why would you bother with 2 17" screens when you could have 1 20" if you are going to 4 table? 20" will give you no overlap. Even with only 2 tables per 17" screen you would still have some overlap. Only get the 2nd LCD if cost is an issue. Don't forget that you may need a new video card alos to run 2 monitors.

Cost is an issue. I just starting building a bankroll this past month (+$500, mosty from whoring). I can get a 2nd 17" lcd cheap from a buddy. I already have a video card that can support 2 monitors. However if the general feeling is that using a 20" lcd is preferable to a dual 17" setup, I will probably wait to build up my roll until I can afford the 20".

Thanks for the advice.......I'm new to 2+2.

Get the 20...eventually you will be rollin in it from multitabling where you could get another. Even just value alone 1 20 holds more tables than 2 17's

Getting 2 17" ones wont even hold 4 tables without overlap combined.

If you use portrait mode, this can be done. If both have pivot (swivel) capabilities, this is not a bad idea. For 1 or 2 tabling, in my opinion, you can do a whole lot more multitasking using your second display than half of a 20 inch monitor.

think about the future too. right now you only want to 3-4 table, but if you'll ever want to 8 table, then you'll want the two monitors. i like having two monitors even when i'm only playing 4 tables because i can do other things (web sites, email, poker tracker) on the other monitor without covering over any of my tables.

Thanks for the responses........The idea of no overlap on a 20" lcd is really appealing...but so is being to multitask on a 2nd screen. I think I'll wait until I build up my bankroll to $1000, then blow half of it on the 2001FP. Instead of selling my 17", I'll use that for a dual monitor setup with the 20". Any problem using 2 different size screens w/ different resolutions? Is it annoying?

I have done it. I had a 15inch LCD and a 21inch CRT.

You can have each set at a different resolution. I wouldnt really say its annoying, but you adjust to it and just become used to it.

I would use the 21"CRT 1600x1200 to play poker only on, and the 1028x764 or whatever it was 15" LCD to surf the web or AIM or whatever.

This is my favourite feature with dual monitors. The worst part of 4-tabling with one monitor is that is gets quite stressful switching from browser -> table 2 -> browser -> table 4 -> browser -> table 1, and so on. Two monitors is a remedy for my health.

I wouldn't mind having the next generation Dell that handles 1900x1200 though. With that you can 6-table and still have plenty of room for a browser window to the right (try looking at 2+2 with 800x1200; you won't like the green navbar to the left).

Buying a 2001fp and keeping your 17 LCD for other stuff is the way I would go. Actually, with this setting you can at least 5-table with no overlap.

I pretty much have both of these setups except my dual monitors are 15" instead of 17". It is definately easier to 4 table on the 20" set to 16x12.
