A sports forum should be set up to discuss all things sports including; passed, current and future sporting events; special upcoming games, tournaments or championships; and general caterwauling about your favorite team or player in addition to your most hated sports bozo or announcer. There is certainly to be plenty of discussion, especially with the upcoming NCAA tournament, the start of Baseball, and the always obnoxious and silly NBA. Also, some golf nuts are active on this board, but certainly all sports and all sporting topics would be welcome. The fantasy game crowd could also join in and use it.

This would not detract or even slow down the Other Other Topics Forum because there is an adequate amount of moronic buzz and other haphazard drivel to sustain and spiral the OOT forum down into the puss-filled crack of doom were it belongs, to be forever lodged in mediocrity, overwhelmed by vacuous posts.

I second this.

I guess anyone who agrees should also, maybe it would happen.

I like the OOT but I agree a seperate sports forum would be nice.

This is the only suggested forum split that I think is reasonable.

So do I. We have a 'sports betting forum' but that is not the some thing as what I (and many others before etc) would like to have. So far 'Other Topics' consists of just Politics and OOT. I think 'Sports' would be a wise addition under the 'Other Topics' heading and there is a definite need and a want for such a forum. It would be well used and the sports posts would not be buried, as so often can happen in OOT, which is a wide ranging and just too busy forum.

In all seriousness I used to be against a seperate sports forum but the OOT has become so busy now it makes sense.

I don't think it's a bad idea, but why can't people just discuss all the sports stuff in the sports betting forum?

I mean, I realize what the title of the forum is, but couldn't you just talk about whatever sports stuff you like?

Or would that be too much clutter?

Hi Zeno:

You need to understand that we get requests for new forums all the time. One problem that we are beginning to have is that with a lot of forums the site gets difficult to navigate, at least for some people. So there's a tradeoff here.

The bottom line is that we were not completely prepared for the tremendous growth and continued growth of this site. It is however a great problem to have.

Best wishes,
mason

Hi Mason. Perhaps you could remove a few forums. In particular, I think the "News, Views and Gossip" forum serves no distinct purpose. If you look at the posts in there, all of them really belong in another forum. Maybe this will provide room for a more pertinent forum.

Sports forum is a great idea.

I also feel MUSIC should have it's own forum too.

Hmm, although OOT is mainly sports and music. A conundrum indeed.

Navigating difficulty aside for a moment.....an "Ethics/Morality" Forum would allow those who have questions regarding these issues to focus them there....

It would certainly 'clean up' those types of posts that can be found in a number of the other forums, allowing the site to become more focused.

Best Regards,

Mason,

Thanks for the response and I do understand that 2+2 is under pressure and growing at a rate that precludes quick resolution to many requests and suggestions. Obviously you have noted this suggestion and I hope put some priority to it over the deluge. I am laboring under the old saw that, 'The squeeky wheel gets the grease'.

Navigation is a concern but the forums are set up very well and in my opinion we have not reached the saturation point yet. Server capacity and other technical matters of course also come into play and I can't speak to those specific issues with certainty because of limited specific knowledge etc.

Now I better get going, I can't be late for work.

Regards,

-Zeno

I think we need a Porn forum also.

Looks like Mason is saying that a Sports forum isn't a priority because they get constant requests for forums so maybe if more people add their support in this thread then he'll realise that it's the most important new forum that is needed.

So, I think a sports forum is an excellent idea.

This is a poker board. From Mason's POV I can see why having more than one "other topics" board is somewhat silly. Unless they're really into community building, I can see why they wouldn't make the move.

I would suggest removing the beginners forum- as I think all the content there could go into the micro limits.

I agree that NVG has probably given up the ghost in terms of being useful.
