I've been looking at my numbers (stop it!, stop it!), and I really miss all the bonus money I made last year! With the free bucks from joining new sites, casino whoring (and some very lucky wins there - even at Party Bingo) and sports betting, almost half my income last year was from non-poker table wins.

Since I don't bet (I mean win) on any sports but baseball, the past few months have been a bit lean. You players that are new, enjoy the bonuses from joining sites - it does end, unfortunately.

As for variance, I have had a period where I was not a winner for 6-weeks. It straddled two months, so I never have had a losing month. However, just to let you know how it can go, I have been playing for 15 months now (about 125 hours per month) online and here are some highs and lows showing my hourly rate per table. I started at .50/$1 and have played up to $15/$30 although I am most comfortable at $5/$10 and $50 and $100 max buyin NL. I started with three tables at micros, but have played as little as one at new limits. I now play three or four.

Yeah, without any other income from bonuses, rakeback, casino and sportsbook, those numbers are pretty wide. Variance happens. Plan for it by having more than 300BB in your bankroll, and put away extra when you are running well. You may not need 1000BB, but it sure is more comforting when you have a terrible day and it is only 5% of your cash! /images/graemlins/grin.gif
