Here are a number of short stack hands that I had in $10+1 Party Poker SNGs. I hope there aren't too many, but I wanted a variety of hands. Some I played, some I folded, some I won and some I lost. Unless I put a note next to a player in the hand description, assume that players are playing decent games and stealing blinds a reasonable number of times.

If she doesn't then I'm in trouble as I don't have enough chips to survive the blinds.</font>

#1. Fold.
#2. Fold
#3. Fold - if you had 600 chips I would say push. But he's going to call with almost any 2 cards. And your way behind.
#4. Raise to 900. 4 handed that has to be played aggressively.
#5. At this point this doesn't matter much. Since 2/4os is definitely worse than 50% of hands I'd fold and auto-push on the next hand.
#6. Fold
#7. Fold. This is a really tricky hand though. JJ is so hard to play. I really think your behind CO though, and at best running a race. You don't want two callers with JJ. Your probably well behind.
#8. Auto-Call
#9. Push.
#10. Fold. No position.

I'm not a regular SNG player but I have problems with 2 of your answers...

5. How can he not call when he's posting 200 for a big blind and has 160 left... he's getting 56:16 odds on the call 3.5:1

If he folds, he has 160 chips left... wtf

9. 1000 chips wouldn't severely increase his chances of winning first. However, if he folds, he's almost a sure thing to money in the tournament. He's GOING to get called when he raises all in.

I'm not an expert by any means and am probably too tight in these situations but here is what I would do.

1. Fold
2. Fold
3. Fold
4. Raise 900
5. Fold
6. Fold
7. Fold
8. Call
9. All-in
10. Fold

It will be interesting to see what more experienced players think.

yo bkm, you might want to break this up into seperate threads. Too much to ask of people to do ten hands all at once.

Well, so far we have a consensus on hands #1,2,8,10.

#1 Fold, Fold, Fold
#2 Fold, Fold, Fold
#3 Fold, Push, Fold
#4 Raise 900, Fold, Raise 900

The raise surprises me as I'd be putting more than half my stack in. I've always read that if you're going to put 40% or more of your stack in you should go all-in. Or, am I misunderstanding that guideline?

#5 Fold, Call, Fold
#6 Fold, Push, Fold
#7 Fold, Call, Fold
#8 Call, Call, Call
#9 Push, Fold, Push

This is my favorite hand of the bunch. If I go all-in, the BB will only need to add another 165 chips and will call with any two cards. I'd probably be a 2 to 1 favorite. Blackjack says that I'm almost a sure thing to finish ITM if I fold. I'm not sure about that. If I fold this hand, the small stack will be forced all-in by the BB next hand. I'd fold the next hand unless I got a premium hand. The big stack would fold to protect the small stack. The SB would put in another 45 chips with any 2 cards and the small stack would double up 50% of the time.

#10 Fold, Fold, Fold

I thought about that but I figured it would be better to have one 10-hand thread than 2 5-hand threads. I've included a wide variety of hands that I think a lot of people would be interested in. If I split them up, one thread could get buried while the other thread with the more interesting hands wouldn't. Any way I figured for an experienced player 6 or 7 are probably easy decisions and you'd only really have to think about 3 or 4. Of course, the 6 or 7 "easy" ones would probably be different for a passive player as opposed to an agressive player.

You don't have to do all 10. If only 1 or 2 interest you, then just comment on those. Any help is appreciated.

Actually I'd do 10 1 hand threads, but not post them all at once.

Without reading any other responses...

1. Fold
2. Fold
3. Fold
4. Push
5. Call all in
6. Push
7. Call all in
8. Call all in
9. Fold
10. Fold

How did I do?

Okay, now that I've read the responses, here's my take:

#1 and #2 are easy folds, I think we can all agree on that.

I can see both sides on #'s 3, 4, 6, 8, 9, and 10.

#5 is the easiest call in the history of poker! Hero has 360 and has already posted 200 for the BB. How can anyone justify folding to a raise, especially from the SB, when 5/9ths of your stack is already in the pot?!?! CALL.

#7 is also a relatively easy call. There is no guarantee that this pot will be contested 3-way... I see tons of bad players min-raise in EP with a 7x BB stack and then fold to a push. Moreover, the all-in player is on a wide enough range of hands here that even if you have him read as solid, you must call. You shouldn't mind taking a coinflip here, since folding leaves you with t450, while getting all-in will propel you to either t1350 (heads up vs. CO) or more. You MUST take a gamble, since keeping t450 will do you little good in terms of trying to make the money.

Hand 1: I push.
Hand 2: Easy fold.
Hand 3: Really easy push.
Hand 4: I fold.
Hand 5: Call. It bites, but you really have to call here.
Hand 6: Depends on table conditions. I probably push.
Hand 7: Unless CO is really tight, call.
Hand 8: Call.
Hand 9: Hard, hard push.
Hand 10: Fold.
