The short-lived Playmakers was the best show I've ever watched. All of my family and friends are obsessed with 24 though, so I imagine that it's an amazing show.

The new show is better than most everything else on tv, but it definetly isn't the same.

Opinions are fine, but I think you might seriously have some humor issues if you would go as far as saying you don't like it.

I know plenty of people who dont consider it the best show ever, or even particularly great, but I dont think I have eer watched it with someone who doesnt laugh often. I dont know any person that would say they dont like it.

To me, saying you dont like Seinfeld is on par with saying you didnt like Michael Jordans basketball playing abilities.

I'm not a big Seinfeld fan. But it might also be because I just don't like Seinfeld himself, or his humor. I can look at the show and say, "That's a pretty well done show." But it doesn't usually get me off. Has its moments.

This definetly wins the award for making me laugh hardest. An amazing, amazing show, but for some reason the masses didnt like it. I always feel bad that Bob and Daves careers really didnt go anywhere. Dave Cross is on Arrested Development, which isnt bad, but Bob has done... Miller commercials? Too bad, these guys are comedic geniuses.

I don't really like TV, but I'll go with Star Trek : TNG. There were a few great episodes.

The best "concept" for a TV show, in my opinion, was The Pretender. "Are you my doctor?"

"I am today."

I once watched a bunch of episodes of an old sci-fi type British show that I think was called The Prisoner or something like that.

Probably circa 1970 or so. Just one season.

Some giant bubbles would come out of the water and wreak all sorts of havoc if somebody stepped out of line.

That was one WACKY show but I liked it a ton (even though it only barely made sense half the time).

any brits out there know what I'm talking about?

TylerD

It was called The Prisoner. I've never seen it myself but it acheived a cult status over here in the 70s I believe.

MicroBob
02-27-2005, 01:32 AM
Probably somewhat similar to Dr. Who or something as far as cult-classic TV shows go (although Dr. Who was obviously far more popular....I hated it).

I saw one episode of The Prisoner on a really late-night TV probably 10+ years ago.

Friend of mine just a couple years ago and I were talking TV and somehow this show came up and he said he had most of the episodes on tape.
I borrowed them...watched almost all of them in one sitting...and was totally hooked.

that goofy show really rocked!!

MicroBob
02-27-2005, 02:33 AM
The Prince sketch was one of the best of course. I liked the blind guy who didn't know he was black as well.

Ben Stiller occasionally shows on Comedy central late at night (4 straight episodes from 2a-4a eastern sometimes).
I have some of the better ones on tape.
Incredibly funny stuff.

Strangely, I haven't liked a SINGLE movie that Ben Stiller has been in now that he's all semi-super-famous (nope...not even Something About Mary which I thought was pretty un-funny).

For CCass - I'll also nominate Beavie and Butthead.
The episode where they go to the coffee-house on open-mic poetry night made me cry for laughing so hard. T
hey also critique a video by Jon Spencer Blues Band in that episode.
truly a TERRIBLE video but B&B can't stop raving about how cool it is...easily their best funniest video-review ever.

But my vote goes to The Daily Show with Jon Stewart.

How the hell is MASH only #25?

Friends at #21 is embarassing.

If they're going to have the Tonight show, 60 Minutes and Nightline they might as well have included Meet the Press and The Today Show and the CBS evening news with Walter Cronkite or the NBC news with huntley and Brinkley...or NOVA, Masterpiece Theatre and Tilt.

I might actually be the only person here who was a fan of 30something....but listing that at #19 is flat-out embarassing. The final seasons of that show were ridiculous....and even the first couple seasons weren't good enough to warrant a #19 ranking.

I pretty much think the same thing about St. Elsewhere.

I think you can justify putting either one in the top 100...but not in the top 20.

Today's Late Show with Dave Letterman does NOT deserve to be rated higher than the old Tonight show with Johnny Carson...and it's not even close.

The old Late Night with David Letterman should be rated higher than his current show.
His sarcastic wit was copied by high-schoolers and college-students EVERYWHERE. His show today is just a lesson in how to be as orchestrated and unspontaneous as possible.

Frasier at #34 is also not a great selection...simply because the show wasn't really that funny.

as you can tell...this is list is kinda pissing me off!!
